Welcome to the proper thread for Eternity! To quote the C3 thread:

The hack I've been working on and off for the past year and a bit. No demo now, there area few game breaking glitches but those will be fixed come SAGE. This hack will only use the palette for the Commodore 64, you heard that right 1 singular palette shared by everything.

Mario was on his way back to his castle when suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his back. The last thing he saw before blacking out was Wario running away from something. When Mario arose he was in a dark crypt, and then suddenly he was in a strange tropical land. Confused, he pushes onward.

This hack aims to invoke the feeling of the Commodore 64 with its visuals. It's not 100% following the rules of the computer(though that would be fun to try). The tilesets are also fairly simple. No slopes, and they fit a "template" much like Super Mario Land 2 does.
See here:
The major thing the hack lacks is music however. I have a bunch of samples of noises the C64's SID chip makes but musical abilities are above my skillset and I lack the time. It is just simple sample replacement(but idk how to do that) of some existing songs so if anybody is able to help in that regard please say so via pm or discord!
With all that out of the way here are a couple more screenshots:

Lovin' the screenshots so far! It's like playing Super Mario World in an older console.

And for the music, I might try making C64-styled music unless someone has to do it. (Paging Dippy!)

Still, great work!

I really love this style. Without reiterating much of what I said in your C3 thread, I also do like your new sprites and tilesets, especially the new Mario and how Boo uses the background color to look spoOoOoky. That flaming oil can is a real throwback - did that come from the GB DKC? How far have you come along (i.e. how many levels are just about finished versus how many do you hope to have in the hack?)

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!

>did that come from the GB DKC?
It comes from PetitMico on MFGG

>How far have you come along
World 1 is complete, and world 3 is mostly complete. I plan to have 5 worlds of roughly 5-7 levels each.
Some more screens, 2-2 is complete!

And I'm providing this without context:
I shouldn't ignore this thread! A decent amount has happened!

Thanks to Counterfeit we have music! But that's being saved for the C3 demo hehe.

I'll leave you with this:
WHAT THIS IS STILL BEING WORKED ON YES
personally some of the palette usage bugs me despite being intentional but i still love this keep it up

Benny Harvey RIP, miss you big man.

I’m a sucker for 8-bit nostalgia and enjoy seeing NES styled hacks, but going with a Commodore 64 style instead takes it to a new level of uniqueness! The palette is very funky (in a good way!) and the SML2 sprites are a nice touch. I definitely get a “long lost Super Mario C64 game” vibe here. Can’t wait to see more, and I definitely can’t wait to hear some of the music to tie it all together!

I believe that I've seen a few snippets of this hack in the SMWC Discord server before. I thought that they looked great, which certainly still applies to these other screenshots I'm seeing now. The 8-bit style just adheres to the limitations of the NES very well, it's almost as if this hack isn't even being made out of a 16-bit game. On top of that, several of the graphics here have a unique charm to them, like the Goombas and Baby Yoshi. Hiding the Pile Driver Micro Goomba under an unsuspicious block is also quite neat.

I'll be waiting patiently to view more of this project as it comes, keep it up!
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
