Hi, I've just finished another level of my hack, with also some modifications for previous levels.
Here's World 2's first level:

You need the silver P-switch to unlock this pipe:

I added 2 blue P-switches if you want to reach the 3-up moon.

The walljump should be useful here. It will also be useful in some other upcoming levels.

I've applied Shell collectible coins and yoshi coins (star coins for this hack) to use shells to get coins.
.
With all this said, Here's now a little modification that I've applied to the 5th level:

Also, a little hint: there's a blue p-switch hidden in a drawer, it allow the access to the secret exit easily:

I'll fill you with more news about my hack when I add more levels.
Now currently working on a ghost house level.

Hey, guys, I've finished another level. It's been 2 weeks since I finished it and started another level. Well here it is:

The secret exit is located here, but, of course you need a blue p-switch to make the door appear:

This area looks tricky: you'll have to find out wich door leads to it as it will be shown later. Oh, and you also need to use the on/off switch:

There are only 2 true doors: one sends you back to the beginning of the level, and the other one sends you to the area where the blue p-switch is. You will need it for both exits. And here's the on/off switch:

Of course, you need to defeat big boo in order to trigger the secret exit. There's another big boo battle in this level, but it turns into a door instead of ending the level as shown later.
By the way, I've turnd back the feather in it's original state, 'cause I didn't really like the previous one, but if you guys want me to change it back, it's okay:

The path continues here:

Here, you need to collect exactly 4 star (Yoshi) coins in order to pass, as told in the message box. There are also some blocks up above that resets the star coins count in case if you forgot one (and also to not give the player many ideas.):

The second star coin is in this room:

Here, you need to lead the shelless blue koopa into the shell by using the on/off switch in order to get the third coin:

Remember that you can use walljumping in this hack.

Here's the second big boo battle, you need to defeat him in order to pass and get the fourth coin:

Well, that's it for this level.
Also I modified wart's battle room and the sprite foreground in the first levels:

Stay alerted for more.

Hey guys, now I'm currently working on world 2, I've finished world 2-A (first secret level) a while ago, and now, I'm currently working on world 2-2. It takes me a bit of time because I'm trying to look further for accurate graphics for some other levels, and also accurate musics (I know that I need to focus on the current level, but I like when a job is done earlier).
But the main point is that from now on, I won't be posting any screenshots until I finish a couple of levels (Except maybe if the old levels are modified), but I'll tell you when I finish a level.
Stay alerted, and have a nice day.

Hi, I just saw that my hack has been rejected. That's fine, because I modified the previous levels a little bit, so it's gotta wait until the next release. But the demo is still available in this thread if you still want to downloaded. Also, you can let me know which problems you incountered in the gameplay here, so I will take it in account for the next release.
Thank you.

'Sup SMW hackers, I hope you're doing fine, Here's the gameplay of the stages that I created so far, including the first ones, because I added some modifications on them:
World 1-Stage 1+ Yellow switch palace
World 1-Stage 2
World 1-Stage 3
World 1-Stage 4
World 1-Fortress
World 1-Stage 5
World 1-Stage 6
World 1-Castle
World 2-Stage 1
World 2-Ghost House
World 2-Secret Stage 1
World 2-Stage 2
You may have noticed that there's a slowdown issue with some stages, sorry , I couldn't figure out how to fix them, it is some times caused when I set the sprite header to 10 in order for the "No more sprite tile limits" to work properly, and also that I'm not a very good player because I usually lose my powerups.
Also, if you could please tell me how to add videos from Youtube to my posts, so I won't always add just links to my videos, so people won't have to go to Youtube to watch them.
Well that's all for now, there will be more stages as soon as I finish them If I have time.
Stay alerted.

Your hack looks promising, but it need a bit of polish on certain details. If you allow, I have some suggestions:
- The title screen have low chance of trigger eplepsy in someone. If the exanimation is slower i think that will be better.
- Don't use Zsnes or similar to playtest: patches as the minimalist HUD have issues and you can find some bugs that in reality are because of the emulator, not the game itself.
- Some of message box/NPC box are affected by colors shared by Layer 3 of the level.
- Sampled ports are way louder than unsampled ones.
- The slowdown is kinda a letdown.

Your game takes me back to 2012, when there were long standart smw hacks with plot and NPC's, hard bosses and shops. All this is a great nostalgia trip. I see that your levels have a certain consistency and try to be mechanically diverse... and this is good for gameplay,

Well, you're human after all so it's okay.
Somehow this helps to stabilize a difficulty curve based on your skills. It would be strange to play a game that even dev can't finish it, right?

I will be keeping an eye on your project, good luck with it!

"If you imitate someone, you can never surpass them."
I think I'll just go ahead and remove animations from the title screen to avoid epilepsy problems for those who suffer it
(even though there might be an abstract level with flashing colors)
, as for the slowdown, I couldn't figure out about it, so I just removed as many sprites as possible.
As for the messages in home area, I didn't use NPCs but sign blocks as characters (because I found it hard to use NPC sprites, plus there's no available place for them) , and I didn't find any available palettes for them than the one that is for layer 3 messages.
Thanks for your tips, good luck on your 2 projects too.

Hi, I added some modifications in the big boo's fights. Here's how they look like:

You may notice that I've also changed the palette of the whole level.
Also, I added a little modification to the underwater section in the 1st secret level of world 2, where you cross the 2 vertical wall urchins path:

Stay alerted for more.

Hey guys, I know it's been a while since I last posted my hack's progress, well I didn't have much time because of studies, but don't worry, the hack is still in progress (even though I'm still stuck in world 2).
So anyways, I added some modifications to the overworld submaps, I hope you like them:

I'll try my best to build some more stages if I have time.
Stay tuned.

It seems to me that only the meadow and ice edge maps look decent; the rest are either using bad colors that hurt the eyes, like the pink caves or the Bowserland seas, or overly gloomy and messy, like the forest.
And what is this gray thing with a giant hill on the map of the starry sky? Honestly, it looks like a gravestone.

Yeah, I guess I'll need to put the cave and bowser submaps with a bit darker colors so that we can avoid the whole eyes problem, as for the star world (the final world) it's actually a spaceship that I drew myself, and I gotta admit: I'm not very good at drawing graphics so I just did my best to draw a spaceship where, spoiler alert !!!
the final battle will begin
.
And as for world 6 (the forest world), I purposely made it with dark colors so that it would sound more dark and haunted.
