I posted about this in the "Thoughts on the recent Prototype leaks?" thread in the gaming forum but then I thought I should make separate thread here as it pertains to a larger issue.

Under the rules it says "Do not use the site to engage in dangerous and/or criminal activity." yet there are several submitted and approved submissions of assets that have only been made possible hacking into private company servers and illegally leaking private assets. What is SMWCentral official stance to hosting known illegally leaked content?
From my understanding of the rules, sharing resources from the prototype leaks other than commercial ROM files is fine, unless Nintendo claims copyright for it (which I doubt is going to happen). We do not condone sharing patches from such sources, but that rule ultimately doesn't apply to graphics/sprites/etc and is safe ground, which is why they were getting accepted with no issues.
The methods used to get the leaks were illegal, but I could argue they are not immoral.

The current situation is fine. Submissions that we consider to be dangerous have been and will be removed.
