The gimmick seems interesting.
Maybe this music track will help to trigger a feeling of confusion with the setups. I did not play any FF game so it isn't pleasant to me.

I've just got one question; how do you manipulate the sprite memory with a little number of sprites? Since the maximum is 12 iirc; I don't see how you need to defeat this one red koopa in order to make the key appear.

Hey this is me, Darkslayer.

There's always more show. And you can call *qantuum's goals* dumb, or bad, or unrealistic, but there is nothing more realistic than that. You never get a happy ending, 'cause there's always more show.

Nothing to worry about, I'll set unlimited time and add indicators here. Also, I didn't think this track could be distracting for a puzzle level. I went with this one as I want to use some Final Fantasy music and there's not much industrial music from FF or many other choices in music section that I thought would fit my level well. As I've said, I'm open for suggestions.

I almost wrote 'quantuum' instead of 'quote' somewhere.

Thanks for the explanation.
Oh, ok, here are some suggestions that are a bit less harsh to the ear imo, but still fit what you were aiming for
(1) (2) (3), but sure as you wish :)

Good luck.

I believe I'll go with the 1st one. Thank you!

There's still one thing I'm on the fence about. As you can see in the OP, I promised last VLDC to make a fan-judge thread. Read it for more details.

I can't believe I can't come up with any new ideas for this level, even if not even the 1st half is done. I wanted to impress this year, but I'm unable to turn my concept into a brand new level, so I'm going to have to scrap it.

It doesn't mean I won't make any new level for this contest at all, though. I have yet to think of a new gimmick. Happy hacking!

Hey, guys! Remember when I said it was canceled? I lied!

I'm back from hiatus with some new progress. I've polished what you all know and come up with new parts of tutorial mode.

I decided to use different music now. I thought I'd use a song that references magic in its name instead and I hadn't wanted to use it before since it was too loud at places. Although I decided I'd fix it despite lack of skills in music. Those were easy fixes, though.

Everything you're about to see is still not final and aesthetics and layouts are placeholder as of now.

Video (how do i embed a video on phone lmao)

I'll probably make a thread where I'll be judging levels until I either lose motivation or official judging ends.

I love the new setups and music, well done man!

I am glad you decided to give this another go. You did a much better job increasing the gradual complexity of the gimmick to keep it fresh this time around. It's a very bizarre idea, and definitely one of the more stand-out levels to me as far as originality goes because it's doing something really weird and doing it well.

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
I procrastinated too much after I came back from hiatus and I feel bad about it. I believe you know how bizarre and hard to work with my idea was. I would've been even closer to finishing it or I would've even submitted it had I worked on it more eagerly instead of wasting my precious time on the couch. This year's VLDC had a shockingly short deadline, mainly considering we had 8 weeks the previous time and one and a half months for KLDC2020 and CLDC2020. I was initially okay with it because it'd prevent procrastination, and then I understood it would've been better had staff given 1,5 months like what had been done for this year's major LDCs I've mentioned. 4 weeks for an OLDC seems more understandable considering how restrictive this contest is.

Without any further ado, I'd like you to close this thread as I don't want to feel bad about wasting my time even bothering.
