Tip: Remaking levels from other Mario games is strongly discouraged, especially popular ones (World 1-1 from SMB or SMB3, for example), as their over-presence in Mario games, official or not, often makes them uninteresting to play.

Goal Type-Dependent Behavior (No Goal Sphere Walk) by Koopster
Essentially a patch that will make the goal sphere always behave as if it were in a vertical level: the "Course Clear!" text will appear instantly, there is no fade and no march - which is more than the usual hex edits do. On the other hand, goal posts will behave correctly in vertical levels (although their usage is no longer recommended - use tall horizontal levels instead!).
I believe this is how Nintendo intended those goals to function, but since the goal sphere has only been used in the only level that ends in a vertical section, it was fine to make it depend on the level type instead.

The patch works for the most part, but there's one issue - Since $13CB is never cleared, hitting a goal tape after previously collecting an orb will cause the goal tape routine to behave like the orb's, even in horizontal levels. Once that's fixed, it should be good to go.
