What is the stupidest thing you ever did?

I'll just skip over the stupidest thing, lol. The next stupidest thing was probably walking from the end of a protest (which already had went on for 3 km) to my friend's house which was an extra 2 km away, under extremely strong rain. My entire soul got wet that day. We went to the pool afterwards (it was 8 PM) :P
Oof, I have a fear of doing stupid things but in real life, the dumbest thing I ever did as a 13(?) year old was miss the bus by 5 seconds and the driver wouldn't stop after seeing me. I chased the bus then took a shortcut and proceeded to run for like 30 minutes for 2-ish miles to school with a backpack full of books so I wouldn't get in trouble for staying home. I was a little late but not enough to "miss the day." That was exhausting. A wiser me would have just dealt with the loss of one day because I could have been hit by a car. Luckily the only thing I was hit by was a big wet leaf in my face.

Just look above you...

Aw, that's no fun. :(

Way back in either late elementary school or early middle school, while riding the bus, a massive bumblebee had landed on me at some point without me noticing it. Fortunately I'm not like this anymore, but I used to be exremely jumpy back then, so when I finally saw it I screamed at the top of my lungs for like ten seconds straight, not once stopping to think to myself "hey maybe I'm overreacting a tiny bit". I was attracting quite a bit of attention, too, and the bus driver literally stopped the bus to find out what was going on.

Anyone who's gone to public school in the US knows that bus drama spreads faster than any other kind of drama, so within a few days everyone in the entire district knew about it. In fact, I shit you not, up until my final year of high school, I would STILL often hear people bring up "Hey do you remember that total fucking idiot that screamed about a bee on the bus years ago? He must be pretty dumb", even from kids who had gone to other elementary schools, and people who transferred into the school district long after the incident happened. Luckily for me, the one detail of the story that everyone forgot was the identity of the kid, so whenever someone mentioned it I would just play along and say "yeah that guy was super stupid".

...

Also, there was the time when I had to beg the bus driver to stop on the way to school because I forgot my backpack at home. That was great.
I'm a pretty stupid person irl. So I actually have a lot of stupid things I've done, so the least stupid thing I did was throw away gasoline when we really needed it, and I still consider it really bad, Just one slight example of the stupidest things I've ever done, but far from the worst. This was about 7 years ago. Don't ask me why.

I've got a question..... Why?

I'm not sure if it counts as the dumbest thing, but this weekend I let my phone fall from my pocket without noticing, and I looked around like crazy until I found it in the middle of the street. I'm relieved nobody stole it and the screen itself wasn't affected, just the upper part of the phone film was cracked (I stepped on it and somehow didn't notice).

That reminds me of yet another stupid thing I did back when I was at school - a female friend was in love with me and even asked me out, but in response, I gave her a "thanks, but I prefer the other girl" (don't ask me why, I was a stubborn kid) :P Thankfully nowadays I'm out of that blind mentality and I'm dating.

once i got a garbage bag to throw out all of our trash. I picked it up and analyzed it and said "hmm, they forgot to put a hole in this bag". So I tore a hole in it and put all the stuff in, watching as it all came crashing down to the floor below. Turns out I was just holding it upside down. that's a true story, and probably not even the stupidest thing ive done
@Hobz: How on earth?! That's pretty funny actually.
@Katerpie: The innocent bluntness in that is amazing though.
@Aram: Seconding King Mayro's "why" on that.

I got a few more of my own personal Stupids to share:

At the age of crazy eight, I had no truthful understanding what a crush was. I thought it meant the opposite of what it really meant, and I remember hearing a conversation from the back of the bus about crushes. I was pretty irritated that day, so I shouted to everyone within earshot who I had a "crush" on and that I oh so hated their guts. The looks I got that day was like they were witnessing the unveiling of the Mona Lisa.

At the still-not-wise age of 23, I cashed in an error coin, a quarter with both sides being heads maligned, in a bank roll. Only later did I realize it was incredibly rare and valuable. OOPS.

Just look above you...

As for me, three stories in particular come to mind. I'll let you decide which of them was the stupidest.

1. I once took a shit inside the shower. I'll leave the full details of the event up to your imagination, but to make it short, it was a combination of having diarrhea and losing a game of Russian roulette. Let's just say... the results weren't pleasent.

2. I once kicked the school bus after getting out of it, just for fun. I don't quite know why I did it (I mean, I was just a stupid child), but out of all the days I could have done that on, I probably shouldn't have picked the one where that very, very angry, intimidating, androgynous woman was our driver, because as soon as she saw it, she immediately came running out with her face turned red from anger, and I guess among the hundreds of scratches that were already on the bass, she noticed the one that was, allegdly, caused by me. You gotta realise how ridiculous this claim was. I was just an elementary school boy. I didn't possibly have the power to cause an actual scratch in the bus, plus, I wasn't even kicking it with a lot of force. Not to mention that, as I said, there were literally hundreds of scratches on the boss alrady. Nevertheless, this stupid thing I did got me into quite a bit of trouble, and in the end, my parents ended up having to pay around 500€ in damages. Not necessarily a neck-breaking amount, but it sure didn't make them very happy.

3. My childhood friend once accidentally burned a CD with some porn on it for me. He didn't even know it was there. I just wanted a CD with emulators and ROMs, but his brother's friend (or someone like that) snuck a ton of porn into the emulation folder and made it hidden, so my friend burned it onto the CD for me without even knowing it. The thing about hidden folders is that they don't maintain their hidden status once burned to a CD (or at least, the folder in this case didn't), so on my own PC at home, I actually stumbled over the porn folder immediately. Well, anyways, the stupid thing that I did was that instead of getting rid of it as quickly as possible, I copied all of the files onto our PC somewhere and kept looking at them occasionally, and eventually, my brother found out via Irfan View's "recent files". This ended up not only getting myself, but also my friend in big, big trouble. You gotta know, I grew up in a srictly Christian household, so of course it did. I think I wasn't even in puberty yet. I don't remember everything that was there, but some of the things I do remember were hentai (Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon and possible some others) and some deep fakes of a German celebrity (of course at that time, I didn't even know what that was and just thought it was actually her). From what I understand, the things you consume as a child strongly influence what you feel attracted to as an adult. I don't know if that's true, but if it is, then this event probably contributed a large amount in shaping my sexuality today.

So you left a log in the shower, touched a bus, and looked people... Got it.... The porn has gotta be the stupidest.

Yeah, that sounds about right. :O

So as the thread creator, what's the stupidest thing you ever did?

Make this thread.

Come on, don't be a party pooper! :(
Don't make other people confess their stupidity and then chicken out yourself.

Flushed an apple down a toilet when I was 6. It had to be fixed.

Oh yeah, I did the same thing once as a child. Except the apple was a marble, the toilet was my throat and I also didn't flush it, but rather swallowed it.

Yeah, it got stuck in my throat and I could have suffocated. Luckily I didn't, because eventually it got unstuck and I swallowed it entirely. Don't know what happened to it afterwards, but it's save to assume I pooped it out eventually.

Or, who knows, maybe I didn't and it's still somewhere in my body after all those years. That would be unsettling.

I thought it was a good idea to pick up someone I knew from the airport.
Never mind that my car was having recent power issues
as well as having to leave while it was snowing
at dusk
with <quarter% charge on my phone.

I was fortunate enough to bring a battery bank with me that also doubled as a car starter. The jump didn't work, however, but at least it saved my phone from dying.

Honestly I was just asking for trouble when I agreed to pick them up. My thought process was that I could show the person my appreciation by doing them a favor. I ended up being stranded for almost 3 hours before I got assistance.

If this wasn't a sign for what to expect for the new year, I don't know what is.

This brings a whole new meaning to Tomato soup.

Actually, especially during times of economic impoverishment, people would make tomato soup by simply mixing ketchup and water.

As for the stupidest thing I have ever done, it is probably getting too smart too fast. I think that I'm too smart for my own good. I'm too pessimistic, and I'm never truly happy. The weight of reality can be quite heavy. As much as I don't want to be unintelligent, I think being too smart can lead to a number of issues.
