Good Day SMWCentral users and VLDC12 Judges,

My name is Gabriel. In Spring of 2016, I participated in VLDC9 and my Level didn't do all that great unfortunately. That Year, out of 115 Entries, I ended up placing 98th in that contest. I know I can do better, so I gave it another go for VLDC12. It took a While to make my Level for this Contest (mainly due to problems with my Laptop lol), but I have it Complete. So may I present, The Dark Forest!

Once patched, just head to where Yoshi's Island 1 would be (Level 105 in Lunar Magic) in the Original SMW. My Level will be there for all to play. In Lunar Magic, the levels/sub-levels I edited for this Contest were 105 as mentioned, as well as 1CB & 1F8. I will have Pictures/Images of my Level posted shortly.

09/15/20 Update: I did promise Pictures, so here they are. These are from when I was Testing my Level...

You may want to Listen to that Textbox.

A Feather and 3up Moon. Huh, neat. But something looks off...

Remember what the First Textbox told you. You may lose your way if you are not careful.

Well that is Certainly a Suspicious Pipe, isn't it?

As is this one...

Which way to go???

And here is the Exit to The Dark Forest. Congratulations if you made it.
I did Promise Screenshots of my Level. Well they are posted now. I hope you all Enjoy going through The Dark Forest...for what it is worth lol. #smw{:TUP:}
I do feel some polishing still needs to be done.

You gave us a cape, which is mandatory for some sections, but for other sections, the player can just skip over the top of them.

You did say there was some visual cues as to where to go, but I feel they might be too cryptic. Perhaps provide a more telling cue, but still subtle enough (like an off-colored bush for instance)

Perhaps introduce a ceiling so that you cant fly over whole sections. Or just remove the cape altogether and change the sections that need the cape. Because all told, outside of needing to cross one gap, the cape doesn't really add much here that a Fire Flower wouldn't take care of.

Not a whole lot of people are a fan of maze type levels, so I'm fairly certain this level will likely score low again. One thing I will say is that it is, indeed, better than the 98th place entry in VLDC9, though it's still in need of some work.

Given the fact that the Contest is over and the Judges are looking at all the Levels as we speak, I'm pretty sure its a bit too late to change my Level now. You need the Cape to get past the first Section and the Gap in the Second Section. You cannot pass the First Section without the Cape. It is next to Impossible. As for the Maze idea, I was Inspired (I guess) by Level 8-2 of Super Mario Brothers The Lost Levels. In that level, you have to find a Vine that leads to the End, otherwise you take a Pipe that leads Backwards. I tried to do a Similar thing with the First Section of The Dark Forest.
Oh, I'm aware the contest is over, and the levels are currently being judged. I'm just pointing out things you may want to think about next contest entry. Overall I'm glad that this was a better level than the last entry, which means there's growth here. There's still room for improvement, so I'm hoping you'll be taking what you've learned from these two entries, and apply them to your next entry.

Also, you may want to put the screenshots in [SPOILER] tags so that the opening post doesn't look too cluttered.
