HDMA flickering at goal

The title is pretty self explanatory. Basically the HDMA gradients flicker after hitting the goal tape. I just want to know how to stop it from doing that. I'm assuming I need to use a patch.
Try using the hex edit at $00CB0C, i.e. patch this with asar:
