Can you change the music in my level to this one? I know there's another level that uses it so you won't need to insert it again. I would like to see it changed because the original entry didn't have custom music.
My Hack - Beta Testing
Don't ask me when i'll make NSMW3.
Would it be possible to have the timer on my level (#15) extended? The level is quite long and barely fits within the 500 time span set by the contest rules.

I'm against making any level design changes, but I think this would be a useful QOL change for my level, and any similarly oversized levels.
Check out my hack:

I'm not so sure about this idea. It wouldn't be fair to the others who've submitted their levels and worked to make sure its time limit was fair. I think for the spirit of the contest, the timer should remain what it was in the original submitted levels.

Hm. The suitable time has probably arrived.

This was a bitter decision on my part. Understand?

I'm pretty uncomfortable with the idea of making changes to any of the levels that differ from how they were experienced when first submitted to the contest. If a lot of people are open to the idea of a music change from the author's request then I may do it, but for things like changing the timer or an in-level bug (Except on very rare occasions, like if it breaks the game or something), then it's pretty much a big no.
By the way, I have added to the first post of the thread that includes more info on the problems I am having, so hopefully it'll bring more attention to getting them fixed sooner rather than later. :P
Help me get the VLDC11 collab fixed and done.
I've been hearing that people are tired of hearing vanilla SMW music while playing SMW hacks, so I really think Rilla Roo's request should be fulfilled, at least. IMO, the vanilla SMW music is also incredibly stale and outdated, and we've pushed our music-making knowledge quite far.
Here's the thing - If you open up creators allowing to make music changes for their level, you are opening up a can of worms that can extend to other things such as timer changes or other revisions that the authors intended but didnt implement before the contest deadline.

Music changes is considered to be revising a level, which is generally something you shouldn't have or do in a contest compilation as the intent is to have an all-in-one place to play contest levels submitted as-is before the deadline. The only contest that did replace music post-deadline was VLDC7 and that was limited to it's unique context in which users were told ahead of the deadline that levels that used original music were to be replaced with the remixes alongside music used in the levels that may have large insert sizes would be replaced.

The only revisions you should accept for the compilation are if you improperly inserted someones' level (e.g. level using wrong secondary exits, empty map16 tiles due to remapping for available space, missing ExGFX files), a level that has a really large insert-size that could be trimmed down (was the case with eXcavator's VLDC9 level, may he rest in peace), a bug that can crash the game, or if the music used in a level whose creator no longer has a ready mml file to give to the collab organizer for insertion (typical of entries that have self-composed music).

Anything else should be met with a resounding "no".

On Pixel Art Requests: I generally do not accept work unless I either have the time, if I see your project worth my time to contribute towards, and that is usually me doing the approaching to you on that.
-I also do not accept speculative work as I do have various art I made on-hand with me.
-I am more receptive to equivalent exchange of resources in which case, you can DM me wherever I have an active presence on for the details.
-Other times I'm availible for your project is C3 request threads I may run.

This isn't true, it happened in VLDC9 as well, although it wasn't announced that time (the management of that contest was quite messy). One example that comes to mind is Lazy's level which originally used vanilla cave and athletic music, but has the upbeat cave remix and the abstract theme in the compilation. If I remember correctly, he wasn't so happy about the change at the time.

my two cents are no qol changes should be made to the original levels, including music. leave them as god intended to be

Off topic, but I took a look at the Worst Levels world map, and I gotta say, I like the idea behind it. It has more of a constructive feel than the previous collabs, where it has more of a HAHASOBADLOL feel.

I can appreciate this.

I agree, this is a change I like. I can't speak from experience, but I believe that anyone who took the time to make a level, maybe even their first ever level, just to end up in the worst world, which almost insults their level, probably felt discouraged to continue SMW Hacking or even level design. With this map, it encourages those who lost to try again, and keep on going.

Great idea, Daizo Dee Von and AnEvilGhost!

That looks pretty good, I'd say.

That's a nice title screen. Simple, and to the point. Though I wonder if it could benefit from an actual background instead of a black screen background.

I found some problems with the Grandma's Paradise level.

entering this blue pipe in this pic:

causes Mario to come out "below" this pipe and fall to his doom when he should be coming out above the pipe

and entering this green pipe in this pic:

leads to Mario dying inside this green pipe (as if he were crushed):

seems like these pipe exits are not working correctly and need to be fixed

I think a HDMA would be a perfect fit.
Hangin' out in my non-school time
Hello,
I would be willing to help with some playtesting if you need it. Let me know what I could do and I would be willing to try.
