Custom assets

Hello. I'm making a very amateur romhack and wanted to possibly have some custom assets to surprise the player. I was thinking about UberASM patches to have walljumps and other cool features but I worry about it being too drastic. Sprites, blocks, and power-ups would be amazing though. I'm not sure how Id insert them and if I should and could do it. Would they be appropriate and easy enough to add?

My In-Progress Hack

Hi! I was in a similar position not too long ago, I can tell you from experience that inserting blocks, sprites, and UberASM is not too difficult!

There are tools hosted in our Tools section that will let you do insert custom assets:

- Pixi inserts sprites
- GPS (Gopher Popcorn Stew) inserts blocks
- UberASMTool inserts UberASM

All of these tools are pretty easy to use, there’ll be a list file where you list your custom assets after you put them in the right folders, which’ll be explained in each tool’s ReadMe.

As for custom powerups, I recommend checking out LX5’s custom power up creator.

Hope this helps! Also feel free to respond with more questions about it.

Thanks. Is there any power up collections anywhere? I’d like to add some certain specific power ups from some rom hacks possibly. The bubble flower (from the machigian adventure and power journey, although I’d prefer if they’d act more like the ones from the blue baby yoshi in NSMBU where you can use them to jump off and they take longer to pop. I could’ve sworn one romhack had that.) or the ice flower would be cool.
