Mario World Remix

Oh, hey, I'm Blaze.128, new here, yadayadayada.
I'm remaking the SMW levels... Yeah.

DOWNLOADS:
Beta 0.01,5
Early WIP, only three levels done... Heheh.

I didn't play the hack, but both of your screens look like blatant level edits of Nintendo's levels. People don't want to play Nintendo's Levels when they're playing a ROM Hack, they want to play entirely new levels. From what I can see, you just wanted to make the original Super Mario World Harder. People have already done that in hacks, and they have turned out to not be very good, since it's basically all the same levels, with a few added enemies or blocks here and there. Sorry.

So, here's what you can do. Clear every object and sprite out of a level by pressing Ctrl+Del while in Lunar Magic, and then maybe change the tileset settings (What Enemy Graphics and Blocks Appear in a Level) and maybe the Palette (Colors). Then, you could make entirely new and creative levels in SMW. Play some featured hacks, to get some ideas, read some stickies, y'know.

Also, welcome to Smwcentral. :)

SIMPLE ENGLISH VERSION

People don't like to see Barely Edited Levels in a Hack, People want a New and Exciting Experience.
Blaze, it's good to hear you want to hack again but, this isn't the way to go. We try to make new levels instead of editing the old levels that we grown so accustomed too :/

Basically, we look down upon hard/barely edited(base) levels. We here want something fresh and new, we want perfection. Well, not really perfection, but decent looking originality.

If you looked through the "Hack Removal Log", you would realize that blatant level edits are a major reason why lots of hack get the boot :/

Work hard and put some effort into this hack instead of moving some things around or adding a few things to be obstacles

Sorry if I sound rude but it's the truth :|
I wonder what a HFD opcode would do in ASM...
Uhm yes......
Well its nice that you try to get the hang of Lunar magic. I'm not that impressed yet though. Personally I don't like remakes of original SMW levels. But its about what you want with Lunar magic: do you wanna make a completely new game(graphics, music, gameplay) or do you wanna make hard levels ala Kaizo Mario.
Remaking SMW levels is good training for both these goals.
Thats how I started too. Ga zo door!

Anyway, if you ever need some help you can always send me a PM(Even in Dutch, I'm Dutch too :) ).

Oh, okay. I'll do that.

First post edited, new name, new screens, new downloadlink.

No, it's not anymore a easy-to-make blatant edit.
One level took me 3 days to make it the way I want.

This is what is hacking.Good levels never take just one day to be perfect. You ever have something to improve.Good job!

Thank you sir.

And because I know people will complain: Yes, the puzzle in the Switch Palace is possible to get through. I did it and I suck at gaming.

There's a problem with your second screenshot. You see the wall on the right where it's connected with a Donut Bridge? Well, Mario can't walk through it. I'm just saying. It happened to me before also.
I just played trough your edited levels. My impression: its okay. The main part I like is that you paid attention to multiple paths the player can take in a level, though your puzzles sometimes are repetitive(bumping a shell into a block to proceed).

Personally I wouldn't consider this a complete rom-hack, but more like a kind of training rom-hack for personal use and trying new things.
If you're thinking of making a hack which can compete with the hacks on SMWcentral, I advise you to learn more(ExGFX, custom music, block and sprites, etc) about SMW hacking. It takes a lot of patience, but its really fun when it works all together.

1. Awesome, someone noticed the multiplie paths.
2. Bumping shells into blocks aren't really puzzles in my opinion, but I'll try to change them to something else.
3. Yeah, I know it's not as good as other hacks, but I try. Custom sprites... I'll use a base. Yeah, I'm hella lazy. Sorry. But I will read documents on how to change music, backgrounds, and that kind of stuff.
