Tip: Layer 3 backgrounds and tides disappear when you hit a message box, so plan your level around that. For example, you can add a sublevel without layer 3 at the start/midpoint, and include your message there.
In Super Mario Galaxy, Bowser (talking to Mario) said he knew he picked the right guy to be his arch-enemy, and this makes me wonder if Bowser held arch-enemy auditions, and if so, I also wonder about any of the guys who didn't make the cut.

headcanon: yoshi deletes baby bowser in the yoshi series games so regularly that bowser has childhood trauma attributed to them, so in super mario world he designed his castles to explicitly prevent yoshi from entering hence why we cannot use yoshi in castles
pretty sure he just hates mario for being friends with the yoshies and protecting them which is possibly how mario ended up going to dinosaur land and yoshi's island (the smw one, yo'ster island) in the first place despite them not appearing between yoshi's island and smw if we were to assume yoshi's island happened first and smw is somewhere in the middle of the "canonical timeline"
mario and luigi are just huge yoshi rights advocates, peach and toad are bourgeoisie so she probably doesn't care as long as they bring more money to the mushroom kingdom
im not sure if he ever made amends with them because regardless of where you place the rpgs, im pretty sure he doesnt have a positive interaction with yoshi and the mario kart and party tournaments can be interpreted as him partaking just to win the gold for his countrymen
When i first got into Mario games and i played NSMB i thought that Bowser Jr. was Mario's real enemy and that Bowser was just some helper of his. Keep in mind i didn't even know their names. And i thought the real issue at hand was the weird stuff going on near the castle during the cutscene.
Bowser and Mario are fighting for the same women, but they do finally calm each other in the end when they're both rejected.
Now Bowser has to go take a vacation to forget the tragic moment of being rejected while Mario still continues to try and to get Peach back, taking extreme measures in the process.
