Hi all, I'm planning on buying the components for my first PC soon, and I was thinking that it would probably be a good idea to get opinions on the current build I have set up. For reference, I'll be using it as a workstation for school stuff, as well as low-end processing stuff like Lunar Magic and FL Studio. I'm also thinking about streaming on Twitch down the road. Seems fair enough for what you want to do.

I'm not very familiar with that GPU (or with Radeon GPUs in general, really), but I'm guessing it will be good enough, especially if you don't plan on playing games on ultra high settings. I'm also not quite sure what "workstation" means in your case specifically (since it could really mean anything from "office work" up to "3D modelling"). I'm guessing you mean mostly text-editing and stuff?

Anyways, once thing I noticed is that your setup isn't including any HDD. Are you sure the SSD alone will suffice for you? I can tell you from personal experience that a single 500 GB SSD will be at its limit pretty quickly, especially if you don't have a second, bigger drive for most of your data.

I definitely should have specified “workstation” but yeah primarily I intend text editing and mathematical modeling, potentially running SolidWorks.

Now that you mention it, I think it probably would be a good idea to add some HDD, maybe 1 TB would be good for me in addition to the 500 GB SSD.

Counterfeit, that is a fantastic website, thank you for directing me towards it. I’ll definitely mess around with their parts recommendations there and make some substitutions.

I originally hadn’t included a CPU cooler because I heard that the AMD Ryzen came with a cooler that was pretty good. I guess I forgot to add a cooling system for everything, though . I don’t know a lot about liquid cooling vs. air cooling, but probably air cooling would be the way to go? I don’t know much about necessary RPM and stuff, but I’ll do some looking around.
