Hey,
can someone link me a post/tutorial on how to understand these numbers e.g. $24 when it goes to using particular GFX by a patch?

In patches numbers with a $ are treated as hexadecimal, which you can read about on Wikipedia, for example. In case of using GFX it's usually just equal to the GFX number you want (either GFX or ExGFX).
