I think you should just keep calling it Epic
also that Bullet Bill redirection stuff is both creative and impressive. If I can expect the same stuff all around then this is definitely a hack I should watch out for
Hi everyone. I wanted to show some screens of my upcoming hack. The hack doesn't have a name for the moment. I like giving my projects a codename first, and this time, since I aimed to create a bigger hack, with more unique asm in comparison with Of Jumps and Platforms, but hopefully maintaining and even improving the quality of them, I codenamed it "Epic". Maybe it will even end up as the name of the hack lol.
At first, I though of making some sort of a sequel for Of Jumps and Platforms, but it quickly derailed into its own thing. This time, as you can see in the gif's, I aimed for a mix of platforming and action, instead of focusing on the platforming.
Each level has its own gimmick/s, coded by me. Regarding the difficulty, it will probably be walking the line in very hard and kaizo light. It won't have free powerups this time, unlike OJaP, so expect something harded, but hopefully fair.
I can't really say when I will be ready to release this (whenever I feel satisfied with the result, really. It might be 10, 15 exits, maybe 20 or 25...). For now, though, even if I already have some people testing the hack and helping me a lot, I'm also searching for even more testers, but not to test for bugs/problems/cutoff, more like in regards the level design, the boss design and general difficulty, so feel free to PM me if some of you are interesting in helping with that specific part of the testing .
UPDATE:
Before C3 ends, I also wanted to showcase one of the bosses of the hack, a giant bat.
That big boy has quite an array of attacks: it can spawn sumo bros flames or volcano lotus fire, descend to attack on Mario (the only phase when the boss is actually vulnerable), send two bats to attack Mario (there are also different kind of attacks here: it can send the bats straight to Mario, or it can make them follow Mario for a brief period of time).
The speed, variety and danger of the attacks depends on its health, as you can see in the gif, and it also uses the main gimmick of the level: you have to touch a garlic before being able to spinjump on it, like normal bats in the level.
I actually have more bosses planned, so stay tunned!
