Hello and welcome to the third version of my musical showcase.
In this thread here are some of the latest songs and some unsanpled ports that can be inserted to SMW.
Amethyst Chasms (Crystals theme, using only 2 samples while keeping the spirits.) Conspring Caves (Mysterious cave theme) Justice ( Mosquito City (Short village songs which will be playing in loop while visiting the villagers.) Ninji's Forest (Eastern Forest level music. This one I used SMW unsampled due to lack of sample replacements.
I'm not super familiar with the covers you did, but I think my favourite has to be USA Ice Hockey - 1st Period; it's so energetic, and the insrumentation feels so traditionally SMW, but going a step further with the vibrato and pitch bends! Also, I feel like I recognize Frozen Tombstone from some level design contest, though I don't remember which one (hopefully not 24hoSMW!)
Your original compositions are neat too. I feel like they all suit their intended vibe fairly well. Amethyst Chasms feels somewhat simple, but foreboding, in a way? It reminds me of like a song for a shrine, or some other important cutscene area in a video game. Admittedly, I think the key changes around 0:40 could be executed a bit better since it sounds a bit dissonant, but if you're going for a vibe of fear or confusion, then it could work well. Conspiring Caves also sounds a bit dissonant when the piano kicks in, but I think that works in giving the song a spooky feel.
Mosquito City's intro has me thinking of a swarm of mosquitoes floating in the air, and then it progresses into a somewhat happy-but-be-careful vibe. I think it's my favourite song out of the bunch.
Nice job with the @1 chords in Ninji's Forest, they mesh well with the @4 and give it a mysterious and ambient feel.
These are all incredible ports! Great job. The original compositions are really immersive and sound amazing, and I also like the instruments you chose for them. Same can be said for the covers! My favorite ones are Amethyst Chasms and Frozen Tombstone.
