Dear friends,

at last Summer C3 I had created a thread showcasing my Sacred Harp Ports. And I added on top songs coming from another book, the Shenandoah Harmony.

For those interested I thought it would be fun to offer my services at porting Sacred Harp songs on request.

Rules:
- 1-2 port request by person
- I'll probably keep at it after C3 ends if a lot of requests occur
- I usually do unsampled but feel free to mention or provide the samples you want to see used
- You can check my Sacred Harp ports on the music section to get a taste of which samples generally get used
- Source content can be chosen from those three websites. Just click the links of the left where there are lists and numbers and navigate the songs. At each song, there is a robovoice singing the songs for you "All 4 Parts".
>>Sacred Harp
>>Shenandoah Harmony
>>Seven Shapes

Thanks for your interest :)

This is not from Sacred Harp.
Sacred Harp is a sort of traditional/christian choir polyphonic music. All info inside my former C3 thread and in the websites I provided. Sorry bud.

Sacred Harp, eh? I've never heard of this. I'm kind of interested in learning more about this type of music, actually, because something I'm noticing on the website is that each song has an ID number associated with it - and when you look on YouTube, every single upload of one of these songs has that same number, seemingly indicating that all of these songs are part of some "standardized" set. Huh.

Anyway, I played around on the website for a while, and while I didn't listen to every single song (lol), I found a bunch that are really lovely-sounding. Overall, something that every one of these songs has in common is the use of really deep and "emotional"-sounding chords, creating an immersive (if short) melody. I love this kind of sound - it's exactly what I like about a lot of older, classical music.

I just clicked through a bunch of random songs, but of the ones I've found, my two favorites (that you haven't already ported) are Nashville and Idumea. Could you port one of those?

Why yes, of course I'll be more than happy to port those two my man!
I'm delighted I received a task from this thread!

Feel free to update your post if you desire a particular set of instruments, according to the other ports I showcased. Else I'll go with my idea.

And yes indeed the song numbers are standardized, there is a whole organization behind the publishing of the reference books. I believe the main office is located in USA, but singing communities exist in USA, UK, Germany, Poland. Every year they organize singing conventions all around the world and it is beautiful.

It is funny you mention Idumea, when I was first introduced to Sacred Harp, my mentor said Idumea were every neophytes's favourite, along with Babylon Is Fallen.

That sounds pretty cool! If I find out that such a convention is happening in my area, I might just go check it out based on your recommendation.

Also I don't have a sample preference, I'm just curious to see what you can do with them. There aren't any specific samples I'd like to see.

Sure come with us #wario{:U}
I'll provide the community link, it seems, they have a practice in Syracuse. Unfortunately, due to covid there must have been restrictions on singing and gatherings but hopefully it can roll again... I've heard someone has invented some beeg "singer's mask" that enables sound coming out.

And with that I inform you that your requests are live:
Idumea
Nashville

Actually since I haven't receive that much visits, feel free to request 2-3 more and I'll be able to perform them, too.

This is interesting, I've never heard of Sacred Harp but it's a cool concept. I've listened to some of them (Not all of them obviously, LMAO) and I liked these two in particular. They kinda of remind me of those King of Cards/Specter of Torment tracks inspired by classical music, like The Magic Mirror. Maybe you can port them? Good luck! There are the links:

1. Ballstown
2. Weary Pigrim
I did not know Magic Mirror but this chiptune sure is a banger. It reminds me of baroque music and of the hardcore tunes of Igorrr, so it can only be good :)

Your request are live:
Weary Pilgrim
Ballstown

More requests can be accepted until the forum is closed fyi.
