Megamix Engine Logo

The Megamix Engine, if you're not familiar, is a Game Maker Studio-based engine designed for making Mega Man fangames, coming packaged with nearly every asset from the NES games, Game Boy games, Mega Man 9/10 and a few miscellaneous games. Games using it include the MaGMML series, Mega Man Perfect Blue, Ring Man in the Castle and some stupid joke game I worked on last C3.

For this thread I will be taking reqests for coding custom enemies and gimmicks, which I will then release under a "do whatever the hell you want" licence. (well there won't be a massive licence writeup in the downloads, I'm just saying everyone will be free to use them for anything they want)

RULES:

- I will be taking requests until the end of C3 and I will try to finish every request before posts get locked. (I might extend the requests deadline if this thread isn't particularly active)

- I won't take requests that require new graphics to be made. I'm pretty awful at drawing and I'd perfer it if you'd link some sprites you want to be used for your request.

- Please check the object list to see if what you're requesting already exists in Megamix! I'm assuming people are going to request more "out there" things but you're requesting something actually from the Mega Man series look there first.

- No bosses please! I also probably won't do weapons unless they're simple as I have pretty much no experience coding weapons in Megamix.

- Be reasonable with your request. Obviously GM:S is much less limited than SMW ASM but I wouldn't call myself a programmer and I can only do so much.

With that out the way, throw your requests away!

Why the hell am I doing this on a Mario-orietned site? Because I figured this would be pretty different to the standard request threads you see every C3.

redirectional object for quick man's laser (as in, left, right, up, or down arrow objects that change its trajectory)

On Pixel Art Requests: I generally do not accept work unless I either have the time, if I see your project worth my time to contribute towards, and that is usually me doing the approaching to you on that.
-I also do not accept speculative work as I do have various art I made on-hand with me.
-I am more receptive to equivalent exchange of resources in which case, you can DM me wherever I have an active presence on for the details.
-Other times I'm availible for your project is C3 request threads I may run.

This object acts like RM4I's reflector (as in it reflects the laser but it doesn't actually stop it), you have to manually define the properties of the incoming laser instead of it being automatically infered, but that means you can do some wacky stuff like change laser types or speed the laser up when it gets reflected.

When I read the title I immediately thought of Megamix from the Crash Bandicoot games instead of Mega Man.

In all seriousness, this is promising! Great job on this program!
Come help save Super Mario World Central Production 2 here!
Bounce pads, that bounce Mega Man depending on his approaching speed.
Vertical Bounce Pads should act like trampolines.

Good Luck with the request! #smrpg{y}

Lots of love, S1Z2 #w{<3}

This kind of already exists in the engine; both the MM6 Spring and Bouncy Tile objects do more-or-less what you're describing. (although they're more player controled than momentum based)

Don't be afraid to request something different though!

Remember those runs of different Mega Man X games where someone would play 2 or more at the same time? That would be interesting as a level gimmick.

I'd like to request a "reflection" of Mega Man that is controlled at the same time as the Blue Bomber is. If the reflection collides with an enemy or hazard Mega Man also takes the damage, but it can also collect power ups and such. The reflection can also halt Mega if it hits a wall (though an option to let Mega move freely is probably better).

One last possible option for it is to reverse movement in either, neither, or both X and Y axes - it could act like a mirror, an exact clone, or something sort of in between respectively.

I guess this is self-explatory enough. This won't block the player if it goes through solids, but you could easily fake that by placing invisible solids on the player's side. Also this probably won't work with Megamix's multiplayer system.

Ah, the WTFPL license :P

Lovely stuff, this. For some reason it's always exciting to see concepts implemented in contexts where they're certainly quite foreign.
