Nope. I've experimented with this in the past, and changing the internal ROM name to anything else will simply not let you open it in Lunar Magic. It needs to be the last step you take, as WYE said.
Also, just in case you're curious, the hex edit used to change it is as follows:

db "SUPER MARIOWORLD"
..except change SUPER MARIOWORLD to whatever you want the new name to be. Make sure you leave the quotation marks in place.
EDIT: For future reference, this thread inspired me to throw this into the
hex edit repository. It will probably be useful to have, since LM's feature can't be used to undo the changes.
