As for the silvers stars with buying stuff, can you finish levels you've already beaten and still get silver stars?
Actually, they're power stars, and you can still get the power star after beating the level, but it won't increase the number of exits you've gotten.

And thanks for the comment Broozer. It's great to know that you're enjoying what I've done to the hack. ^_^ And don't worry, I'll have something else to show real soon. ;)

I usually manage to point out at least 30 mistakes on a overworld within seconds, but with your skills, Jimmy, I had to struggle to find this many.

If your level-design skills are as good as this, you have a huge chance to get far. :)

Thanks for pointing those out. I fixed as much as I could:

you missed the later is off two
verry nice hack im gonna try to find it on hacks

NEED SOME ONE TO PUBLISH -ZERO TWO- THEME
Allright! I have some big updates! Progress has been kind of slow lately, because of the Overworld Contest, but I have 2 new videos to show!

I switched to using Addmusic RevX about a month ago, and here's a video showing some new Misc. songs for my hack. All of them were ported by me:

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://s399.photobucket.com/flash/player.swf?file=http://vid399.photobucket.com/albums/pp80/J52905/miscsongs.flv"></embed>

And...in more exciting news, I have hacked the hurt routine so that he now has a health bar similar to Super Mario 64 :

<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://s399.photobucket.com/flash/player.swf?file=http://vid399.photobucket.com/albums/pp80/J52905/healthsystem.flv"></embed>

When he gets hurt, he loses one unit of health, and coins will increase his health by one, just like in SM64. But now I had to go back and delete most of the coins so that it wouldn't be too easy. Now he'll only die if he runs out of health. Even if he's big Mario.

What do you think? :D
Everything is amazing, Jimmy, as usual!

Your ports really made me blow away, due their awesomeness - your SMB3 P-Switch port is EXACTLY like the original, I would say. I also see that you have done quite some improvements in your Good Egg Galaxy port, huh? Can't wait to check it out, by the time the next demo comes out. ^-^

Your HP meter is also fantastic. My only complaint about it is that it's weird to have Mario growing up and them slighty turning into small Mario once he takes damage - this may be a little hard to get resolved, though, since that's what Mario does when he takes damage in the original SMW.

Aside from that, you did it once again, bud. Keep it up, can't wait to see what you will come up next!
Fantastic! But the new SM64 HP meter makes the HP Recovering too easy, don't guess?

EDIT:

*fanfares* Level up!

--------------------
Now I leave my IPS patches of my hacks for everyone play and edit as you want to.

Bramble Invasion & Surreliatus

The OW of this hack is great.
Hmm...I posted this before. But I guess it got deleted when everything got fixed.

Either way, I still never received any comments on this, so here's a new idea for my hack:

It's supposed to replace the option for a 2-Player Game with an option for a harder difficulty setting. Basically, in hard mode, Mario starts with 3 units of health instead of 5. I've hardly done anything with it, though.

Also, in more recent news, here's a new submap of my hack called "Molten Ice Cavern" (I got the idea from Freezeflame galaxy in SMG):

And I've composed a song to go with it:

Link

Enjoy! ^_^
This music is wonderful, Jimmy! Hope you will submit this. :)
That's awesome, as usual, Jimmy! The normal/hard mode idea seems to be quite well-implemented, although I have seen something like that before in Azure Chaotic - still though, I can't wait to see how it will turn out!

As for the submap, I must admit that I really like your idea - Freezeflame Galaxy was one of my favorite levels/galaxies from SMG, and it's really cool to see that something similar to it has been implemented in such a great hack like yours.

The song you composed to go with the submap is also awesome - it kinda reminds me of Keytastrophe, I don't know why... but that's not a bad point at all... Keytastrophe's a great hack, and it's quite nice to hear something that has almost the same quality of the songs from that hack. ;)

Keep it up, buddy - as always, I can't wait for the next update!
Wow. Thanks guys! ^^

Yeah. I think I know what you mean. After composing that song, I realized that a small portion of the song sounded similar to one of Keytastrophe's songs. (Which was completely unintentional, by the way. o_O)

But yeah, glad to hear you enjoyed it! :)

EDIT: Hadron: Unfortunately, I probably won't be submitting this. :( This is something I wanted to make for my hack only. Although, it would be pretty awesome to see how people use it in their hacks...
The submap gives me the feeling of Hailfire Peaks... nevermind that.

Good job on the submap! The song you made fits it really well. But the bridge on the left side looks cutoff, and the little platform with two colors is... well... make the change from fire to ice a bit more realistic. Just BAM! Fire. BAM! Ice. That isn't really good I guess.

But you're doing great!

Ok, I see, no problem. ^^
The title screen is really good, but the "Bowser" sign is a little bit simple. Try to make that more evil, some spikes or shading, you know.
for that freezflame world: did you got the idea from Banjo-tooie: halfire peaks?

I showed these at C3, but I'm going to post these here too so that I can get some more feedback. :)

By using SMKD's Sample Tool, I was able to import some of the instrument samples from Yoshi's Island into my hack. Here are some of the songs that I have ported for Bowser Strikes Back that use these new samples:

Megaman 2 - Bubble Man's Stage
New Super Mario Bros. - World 1-1
Super Mario 64 - Jolly Roger Bay
Super Mario 64 - Wing Cap
Super Mario Galaxy - Buoy Base
Yoshi's Island - Bonus Challenge
Yoshi's Island - Hop! Hop! Donut Lifts!
Yoshi's Island - Intro
Yoshi's Island - Invincibility

Also, I have some videos of my hack that I posted in my C3 thread. And I'm just going to copy my post from my C3 thread beacuse I'm too lazy to re-post it:

Quote
First of all, I have updated the intro/storyline. For those of you who have played my first demo, you may have noticed that the storyline was kind of rushed and not very thought out. Here is a video of the updated intro:

BSB Updated Intro:
<embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://i399.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid399.photobucket.com/albums/pp80/J52905/BSB-Intro.flv">

In addition to that, I also have a video showing a small portion of one of the levels I am currently working on. It's an underwater portion that uses the marine pop custom sprite. You may notice that I am using Yoshi's Island instrument samples in my hack, as seen in my other C3 thread.

BSB New Level:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/L2I3F8ND60g&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/L2I3F8ND60g&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

And lastly, I have included an ASM hack that allows the option of playing on a normal or hard difficulty mode. This video will demonstrate the differences between the 2 difficulty modes:

Normal/Hard Difficuly Mode ASM Hack:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qypiAtXPa8k&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qypiAtXPa8k&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

On normal mode, Mario will start with 5 HP (as shown in the bottom right corner of the status bar), and when he dies, he gets the option of Retrying the level, or returning to the Overworld map. If he chooses "Retry", he starts at the beginning of the last room he was in.
On hard mode, Mario will start with 3 HP instead of 5, and when he dies, he will just go back to the Overworld without having the option of starting over from the room that he was just in.

Feedback would be appreciated. :)

*Speechless*
Thanks. It's quite good to know that you guys enjoyed what I had to show. And also, sorry about the lack of updates for a while. I'll be updating this thread more often now. ;)
I thought I was complaining enough about my small toe that's been hurting loads since yesterday, and then you come along with such a spectacular update that kicks my ass so brutally due to its epicness... ARGH. D:

In all seriousness though, this is really some pretty cool stuff you got there, especially the normal/hard mode ASM hack - I'm quite impressed by your work on this. The new intro is a nice addition, as well, as the old one didn't use to reveal so much of the general plot of your hack, as you yourself mentioned. Your underwater level is also pretty cool from what I can tell you, although I'm not too fond of the graphics you're using for the foreground there - instead of using those grassy graphics, what about giving a go to the foreground GFX included within this ZIP file? I reckon they would fit rather nicely in the environment you created there.

Apart from the foreground graphics of that level particually, everything else looks superb - keep up the excellent work! :D
