Welcome to SMW Central's Requests forum for SMW hacking. This forum is our official resource requests system. And with thanks to ModBot, a lot of the management and moderation of the forum is automated!

If you want to request a resource for your hack, it's very important you read the rules and instructions below.

How to Make a Request

• Start by making a new thread in this forum.
• Select the Open tag, as well as one resource type tag (ASM, Graphics, Music). Use Ctrl + Click to select more than one tag.
• Fill out your post inline with the requesting rules, and then make your thread!

• Once a user expresses they would like to claim your request, change the Open tag to Claimed.

• Once your request has been fulfilled and the submitted file has been approved in the resources sections, you can then change the Claimed to Complete.

It is important you keep your thread tags up to date, and only list one tag for the status, and one resource type tag.

Global Requesting Rules

These rules apply to all requests made within the forum. In addition to these rules, the relevant resource-specific rules apply also (ASM, Graphics, Music).

Failure to follow the rules in this forum will result in a warning being issued. Further non-compliance may result in your ability to make requests being revoked.

1. It is your responsibility to keep your thread tags up to date.

As per the How to Make a Request instructions above, it is your responsibility to ensure your thread tag for the status of your request is kept correct. If your request is Claimed by someone, mark it as such. If it's been Complete, then change the tag again.

2. You can only have one active request per resource type concurrently.

For example, you can make a Request thread to request Graphics, and then another for ASM, but not two ASM request threads - until one is either Canceled or Complete. If you do, your latest thread will be automatically Canceled.

Requests older than 30 days that are still Open (not claimed by another user) will be automatically Canceled, and you are free to either request it again or request something else.

2a. If you change your mind on a request, you can mark it as Canceled.
Abuse of this feature will not be tolerated. Continuously canceling requests may result in disciplinary action being taken.

2b. You can only request one resource per request thread.
Circumventing the limit imposed on how many threads you can make by doing this will not be tolerated.

3. Ensure your request contains all the resources required to fulfill it.

If you're requiring someone to create a sprite for you, or rip graphics, don't expect the fulfiller to find the resources themselves. Provide links and downloads to everything they will need.

4. Don't make your requests too specific.

The ultimate purpose of the Requests forum is to encourage the creation of more resources for the community, not for you to request a "32 different attacks custom muncher boss". Requests won't be kept private, users are allowed to support your request and suggest further ideas, and all fulfilled requests will be made public and uploaded to our resource sections.

5. Respect the users who kindly offer to fulfill your request.

Do not pester someone to complete your request once they claim it. Everyone is busy, and they will complete your request when they can.

Fulfilling Request Rules

You can filter for each type of request resource type by clicking on the tags, if you're looking to fulfill something specific.

1. You can claim a request by posting in its thread.

Make sure to let it be known that a request has been claimed, so multiple people don't end up working on the same request.

2. When claiming a request, be responsible.

Before claiming a request, please assure yourself that you'll be able to fulfill it in a reasonable amount of time. If you find yourself unable to finish it, unclaim it as soon as possible. Don't leave requesters waiting unnecessarily.

3. Submit the fulfilled request to the corresponding resource section, and link it in the request thread.

As such, make sure it complies with the corresponding section's submission rules.

4. Once your submission has been approved, you can claim a point for fulfilling a request.

Post a link to the approved resource, and a link to the request thread here, and you will receive a point for each request you fulfill. Fulfill a certain amount, and you can earn trophies! If you don't post there, you won't get the points. This is your responsibility.

Supporting a Request

We strongly encourage, if you like someone else's request and/or may have a use for it yourself, to show your interest in its thread. More people being interested in a request may make it more likely to be fulfilled, as it will be known that it's something that the community wants.

You are free to suggest additions, further ideas, and extra features. However, please remain true to the original request and do not completely hijack someone else's request.

Summary

We hope our Requests forum helps SMW Central's resources grow!

Should you have any questions on the rules, how the forum works, etc, you are free to ask it here in this thread.

Happy requesting!

oh yeah that's for sure.

Hey there, I find this initiative to reward the "makers" lovely, thanks for bringing it! Too bad it can't be applied retro-actively on all the requests completed until now. Or can it? Since I've done a few musics on request until now haha.

I have a few questions:
- if it so happens the requester doesn't like the delivered product, although successfully moderated, and asks for a re-work, does he have to take the "completed" flag and then open a new request? I hope this kinda stuff occurs rarely though.
- if it so happens multiple users place a claim on a request, who has priority? Is it decided by the requester, or is it more of a first arrived, first served system?
- will the request threads offered by some users during C3 also be dependent on this system to get points? What about the C3 requests that are still wip from the Winter C3?
- If a request already is wip before this forum has opened, can we ask the requester to post here, then claim it immediately? I.e I have some ongoing projects for OrangeBronzeDaisy already. And some for Infinity. Hope I don't look greedy for making sure I cash these points in, too :o

thanks :)

Personally, I feel the requester should be grateful they got their request fulfilled lol. This is a very rare case and not something I have seen before, but if that should happen they would be best to open a new request once the other one is Completed. Ideally, the fulfiller and requester would keep in touch anyway throughout the process, in their thread.

There's going to be a bit of lag time between a request getting claimed and the tag being updated, depending on when the requester is online. I'd advise any potential claimers just do double-check that something hasn't been claimed in the thread before claiming it themselves.

Only requests fulfilled in this forum count. I can't really see a practical way to implement C3 request threads into this also, as that's when things would start to get messy. We're keeping it simple this way.

I'll discuss this one with the other forum mods and people, and I'll update this post and let you know!

We've decided not to allow this since it could potentially get messy if other users are in the same boat, and crosses the line of "starting fresh" on the points with this forum. We don't want to set that precedent and have the line on that get blurred.
Are wait times from the previous request thread grandfathered into this one? I made a request that was neither claimed nor fulfilled, but i don't mind waiting an extra 4 more days to request again.

Nah, you're free, and encouraged, to re-request it here at any time. Consider the old threads null and void at this point. Go ahead.
What are the rules regarding bumping requests? Am I allowed to reply to my own request to bump it to the top of the forum if I feel like it's getting ignored? And if so, is there a waiting period between bumps? How long would I have to wait after bumping my request before I can bump it again?

No bumps at all. If it doesn't get fulfilled in 30 days, it will automatically get cancelled and you can re-request it again.
I wish ghost threads weren't a thing here. They're quite bothersome.
do .xm files count as a reference while music requesting?

I didn't know what a .xm file is, so I asked a musical person and they said it's a tracker file so should be fine. So, I'm sure it would be fine.
