OP has been updated with a small update to the hack. This hack fixes a fatal crash on snes mini with switch palace message boxes. I normally don't fix inaccurate emulator bugs but this one was so simple and more or less was an issue with the patch used that shouldn't have been left in (a wdm was left in).

Latest version as of today is today (4-29-23). Only bug fix made was for an snes mini issue.

I've been playing this mod a lot and as a fan of the GBA version of World I love having a lot of it's features like the status screen and playable Luigi being in this mod. However I feel like there should be a way to customize the changes so that the player can play the game entirely to their liking Something similar to the Mega Man X6 Tweaks Patcher that allows players to pick what's different and what's the same in the game. For example I would like the option to bring back some of the original graphics and while I personally like the change of having enemy hits bring you back to super Mario instead of small Mario like in Mario 3 I have a feeling that's a change some people would like to turn off. Apologize if someone else has already brought up the idea but I think it is worth considering if it's possible to do.

That’d require an overhaul of the engine. It’s too late this far in development and would be more trouble than it’s worth.

I’m going to ask again. If there’s any criticism anyone has towards hard mode let me know!!! I asked a lot of times in the past and hardly anyone answers and now when the hack is released for a good while people are complaining on things. If you have any opinions to voice now is the time. What the plan is so far is to allow being hit twice in hard mode before you die vs once. Dragon coins will now individually save upon touching a midway point, and I’m willing to personally test some levels to judge for myself if it’s too hard (I tested Forest Fortress in it’s entirety for example). Speak up right now if you have any criticisms so far for hard mode. I understand I can’t satisfy everyone but the changes listed above were the majority of complaints. If there’s anything else I should look into now is the chance!

I already complained about the unpredictable randomness of the layer 3 smasher compared to the vanilla one’s, especially in ‘Forest Fortress’ and probably one of Bowser’s castle rooms. Also, in the first room of the sunken ghost ship, there’s this narrow passage you have to go through before the pipe. If you’re small, it isn’t much of an issue, but if you’re big or with Yoshi, it’s too narrow to dodge the eeries and bullet bill shooter, so most of the time, you tank a hit and can’t take your powerup with you. I think that’s all I need to say about hard mode. Also, I believe getting hit twice before dying instead of once would be nice.

I’m going to remove the magikoopa from forest fortress and the jumping statue. For the smashers I’m going to slow them down to their vanilla speed. I’ll check on the sunken ghost ship for that spot. I’m probably going to remove some Venus fire traps in donut plains 2 as well. I think I need to revise Ludwig’s castle so I’m up for suggestions.

I’m going to ask once more before the deed is done. If there are any specific areas you feel are too much or spike to far etc, now is the time. I’m only deciding to make improvements design wise bc some common things were messaged to me. Only 2 people have replied but I’m aware there’s a group of individuals out there (you know who you are), that have expressed some frustration on some level designs. If you don’t have an smwc account it doesn’t take much to make one or if you’d like to remain anonymous it doesn’t take much to make a discord as well (you don’t even have to download the app, just use it on the browser) and dm me (join smwc server first to be able to msg me). I ask that when I do release an update that polishes up on some criticism that I don’t receive any more messages on asking for changes or ideas bc I’ve asked already multiple times and no one steps up until the product is released. I understand I can’t please everyone and a project will always be “unfinished” but at some point this project will stop and it has to be this next time. The game has been out publicly since February and that should’ve given everyone who has played it more than enough time to formulate their thoughts. So here I am asking once again, if you have something to add or say, no matter how big or small, now is the time bc I’ll be ignoring any future feedback (unless it’s bug fixing related). The more I update this hack the less people care about it (especially on this community). If this all that will come out of this, only 2 people expressing their ideas, then it is what it is and no one can complain if they never spoke up bc I’m asking here and now. What I’ve done so far, Forest Fortress had the jumping statue and magikoopa erased, the 2nd room has been redesigned to be slightly harder, dragon coins individually save, 3 Venus fire traps have been removed from the donut plains 2 pipe ceiling, you can now take 2 hits in hard mode before you die. If you don’t have ideas but do think a levels seems too hard vs it’s surrounding areas just let me know which one it is and I’ll look into it.

I'm still hoping to play a definitive version.
I need to try out the current one to make sure the Star Road secrets are different for me.

Maybe you should remove the two boos in the second room of the sunken ghost ship since I think you cannot easily overrun them (they move at the same speed as the player's swimming speed) and you end up wasting time trying to maneuver them away from you. Also, sometimes if you are standing on the something while on Yoshi in the second room, like a crate or ledge and just start swimming with the down button pressed while getting hit, Yoshi may fall into the crate or ledge and get stuck, which can be a little annoying. Not sure why this happens, is this a vanilla glitch?

Edit: Actually, maybe the boos are not bad, but these moles get in the way, so maybe get rid of them?

Not a bug. A lot of secret exits have been moved around, particularly the ones that lead to Star roads.

Not a bug. A lot of secret exits have been moved around, particularly the ones that lead to Star roads.

Got it, I'm using snes9x 2010 which works great, could you launch a rom by removing the start warning?

There’s still bugs present but they’re really random. If the message appears that means the emulator did not pass a hardware test which means emulator inaccuracy bugs are possible. There’s no changing that.

This mod is very cool! I like how it incorporates things from super Mario advance 2!

however, there's one thing that bothered me, and it was how cryptic the Secret exit is for
Valley of bowser 2, the other ones felt like a nice and clever hide, especially in vanilla dome secret, but here I can't understand why it was changed from the original if the extra step (I presume finding the p switch?) isn't exactly hinted at...


Other than that, this hack is amazing! It'll definitely my go to way of playing replaying Mario world!

I have beaten 'Sunken Ghost Ship' now and I take back what I said about the second section. Turns out you do not have to spend a lot of time maneuvering the boos and instead, you simply have to swim straight towards the narrow spike section with the boo rings and face yourself towards the boos ASAP when the time is right. Usually most of the time, it is totally possible to do that without tanking a hit at all. However, the ceiling in the first section is quite narrow and finicky and the RNG can really ruin you because of that. Maybe get rid of that ceiling but keep the wall of wood blocks?
