So, hey there, this is my first time making kaizo stuff, so yeah, this level may end in the easier side, since I didn't use any complicated tricks or crazy ASM stuff. But anyway, I actually lied, this is my second time making this experience of creating a kaizo level.
One thing you may notice is that I polished the presentation of my level in the slightest details. I even created a lore. Here you'll learn how to create a story involving Wario.
The lore is as follows: Wario was reading the newspaper, when he saw the headlines "RARE TREASURE FOUND IN AN OLD FEUDAL CASTLE OF KYOTO, JAPAN." Wario, being Wario, takes a trip to Japan and reaches a gorgeous feudal castle. And so, he learns to walljump like a ninja. C
So what is the main idea? Walljump. With the exception of the boss, everything in the level, requires walljump in a way or another.
Here is the first floor. Cursed kitsune masks are throwing fire in anyone who dares to enter the castle, so Wario must be ready to use his walljump skills to avoid the fires. It's the easiest floor. In the end of floor 1, the player learns about a new "mechanic". There's more room for error there, as well. In this floor, we also have the first appearance of shogun dry bones and explosive flames.
Reaching the second floor, we have a nasty surprise. Skull blocks are positioned in strategic positions and the enemy troops are ready to touch them to kill Wario. It's a more fast-paced section with a lot of "youkais" and monsters getting in the way of our favorite greedy plumber. The inspiration of this room came from hearing Gen's Castle Battle, from Romancing SaGa 3. I wanted to make it feel like you're fighting monsters, in a vibe like a JPRG. This room has an intermediate difficulty.
On the third floor, things change a bit. This time, Wario must deal with ghost lanterns, hostile gooses that flies toward him and dragons. Initially. The first part is more platform focused, while the second half is more fast paced and tense. The skull blocks make a comeback with even more nasty setups. Watch out or you may get blown out by the deadly bob-ombs. This floor has no specific inspiration, it is a combination of elements of both floor 1 and 2, sans the kitsune masks.
Upon beating it, Wario reaches a pre-boss room, with a warning from Konami Executives. Wario is in their way, and they're annoyed because they want to sell the feudal castle. So they send their most pure evil creations to confront our garlic loving friend: pachinko machines! So yeah, that's the reason that I chose Beat of the Evil, from Romancing SaGa, as a music for this room.
And there we have the deadly pachinko machines. Since I made this boss more like a joke, I choose the Boss Theme from Spanky's Quest to fit perfectly with it.
After a hard battle, Wario emerges victorious, saves the feudal castle and gets the treasure, which is a rare golden maneki neko with mystical powers. Yeah, that's how you make Wario lore, people.
And thank for coming to my TED talk. I hope that people can enjoy this level as much I had fun making it. I don't plan to win anything in this contest, I just wanted to challenge myself and be creative. So yeah, have fun!
