That broken bridge is a nice touch. And the mere fact you're incorporating Goomboss makes me very very happy. Looking forward to more from this hack. ^_^
This hack is looking pretty good so far. I'm actually surprised there's going to be a custom boss! Also, try to make the bridge have cracks in it so it looks like it's broken.
Holy crap, 5 posts in 1 day??!? That really is a record for me. Anyway, thanks for all your kind comments. Rest assured Goomboss isn't the only custom boss. I made another one just yesterday but I wont tell you what it is.

Anyway, someone inquired about the plot. Well, basically, there is no princess capturation in this hack. Even though it says in the title screen.

This is because my hack has lots of cutscenes which portray LOADS of plot twists, so I may not revleal too much about the plot at this early stage:

I will however tell you that basically Bowser (Or is it...?) has stolen 7 important star things. (It's a work in progress, I know).

More screens coming soon, maybe even some of the new boss I've made.

Where in particular do you mean? If you mean the Goomboss bridge, that I canb't do much about that because obviously it would destroy the background.

Perhaps. I've only finished a couple of them, I mainly make random levels when I get inspiration, and not in any real systematic order.

I have done a couple, so i might make a video showcasing some of the coolest levels and general stuff in the hack.

Same here, to be honest. I like that fact that the plot is more original. (I can't give you any details without spoiling anything)

[bump] I'm just here to say my latest project is to redraw the Kirby Super Star Halberd foreground ExGFX into 16 bit.

(At the moment they're 24x24, and resizing them in photoshop makes them look like vomit).

It's really not easy. I totally have more respect for ExGFX drawers now. Anyway, heres my progress so far.



Thats right, one tile. I'm only doing this because theres a section in my hack that will use it extensively. I MIGHT release it when (If) i'm done. [/bump]

A later section of the same level, featuring those purple pipe maze thingies. this bit is particularly fiendish because it is auto-scrolling.

If anyone wants, I'll uplaod the whole ExGFX set, featuring everything you see above (Except the quicksand and sprites).

I'll even throw in the background which has fake HDMA:



I'm sure you agree it's pretty snazzy.

Kinda big update.

Yeah, i haven't been working on this in a while, but I got some inspiration yesterday. This is my FIRST EVER HAND DRAWN EXGFX.
Yeah, usually I just rip them, but this is made entirely from scratch.

Basically, at a certain point in Mario's quest, he stumbles upon the Skypop hangar. later in the level you hop in one and fly around, but in this part of the level you're on foot.



Yep, thats it. My first ever completely custom ExGFX. (Ok ok, I didn't draw the sky pop planes or missiles, i did however make the missile racks).

So, whaddya think?? What do you like/not like, and what should be added? I'm going to add a runway later on.

*Edit* yeah, those stairs work as well.

It's a very good idea - they really fit in the level with a sky pop.

The stairs have on some edges brighter pixels. You should make them darker.

Well, i just made the exanimated runway lights, and they look pretty funky. The animation's really smooth. Now i'm gonig to make the runway itself... I'll send you all a screenshot when it's done.

I've just finished drawing and assembling the runway and light GFX. What do you think? Obviously you can't see the light animation, but take my word for it, it's cool.

Some new Hangar GFX. I suddenly realised that the sky pop doesn't actually fire those missiles: those are infact pop torpedoes. So, I've also incoroporated piles of those cannon ball looking things, and I have some surprise puzzles in store regarding those.



As you can see from the sign, this is hangar 2. In this level there are 3 hangars: the third one has Mario's sky pop in, which you then fly to the end of the level when you reach it. This is definately my awesomeyest level to date. (Yes, awaesomeyest is a real word).

These are my first ever custom drawn GFX, so i am kinda reluctant to release them... But maybe I will later when i'm done with them.

Ok, I've updated it AGAIN... the stairs had a coupla missing colours on some steps, and I also added scaffolding type things and railings.





This is the FINAL update. I wont be adding anything more. I'll uplaod the ExGFX, palette and map16 pages once I've released demo 1, which might be soon, depending on homework etc.
Wow, Can't wait till demo 1! That is a good hanger you made, I couldn't draw and make that a ExGFX file and that's preety pathetic!:(

I'm confused, are you saying the ExGFX's pathetic? :D

And by the way, that level wont be in demo 1. Demo 1 will only include the first submap: The hangar and flying level comes later... I might actually relaease them after demo 2, we'll see
He was saying HIS ExGFX skills are pathetic compared to yours =P

But yeah, thats pretty damn impressive.
