Nope, there's not a shop block that sells you a bomb that lets you go to one of the upper levels in the elevator shaft.
Ok guys, the demos nearly ready. before initial release, I'm working on some new ExGFX however.

It's definately my most complicated rip, considering the palettes are compressed, and the tiles are 24x24.

By comparison, the default 'Super mario world' looks really mono-chrome and crappy. I'm working on fixing the palette on the yellow bits on the red letters. i think it might be a hard-coded part of the palette.

With regards to your opinion of redrawn mario, I'm thinking of changing it to SMB3 Mario. What do you think?

I'm afraid tye demo has been put back due to technical difficulties (See thread 'WOAH CRAP MAJROR BUGGERAGE' in basic SMW hacking).

As a result I'm porting everything over to a new ROM again...

Oh boy, have i got something special planned for you guys. I'll give you a clue. It begins with B, has SS at the end and has an O in the middle.

Remember Goomboss Bridge? Well it's name has now been changed to 'Dark Wood', to accomodate Goomboss' replacement boss. I promise you it will not dissapoint: it's not my creation, it's from another Game universe. (If I told you which, it would ruin it completely. Please don't try and guess)!

Anyway I'll give you new screenshots as it happens.

It's time to unveil the boss I was going on about. I can garuntee it's better than Goomboss.

yes way! it's Whispy Woods from Kirby!

This looks almost Carol Grade, right? Wrong! It's nothing more than a modified version of Maxx's Newbie's Custom Boss Sprite! (The eyes also animate so it looks like it's blinking).

The idea came to me a few days ago, and decided to run with it. it's perfect!

Well, not quite.

As you can see, due to it's size there are some tiles missing. I've tried all the sprite memory settings, and this is the best result I got.


(What it's meant to look like).

Another flaw is with the Waddle Dees (Goombas) that are generated above the tree. They are glitchy. They are the SMW Dissasembly goombas, because I've applied the Classic Goomba patch. They don't work quite right, leae it with me.

Things to do:

-Fix the Waddle Dees.
-Change the sprite clipping.
-Fix the memory issues.
-Add in a generator for Whispy's wind attack (I've got the graphics ready).

As you can see, once stomped, rather than flipping over they move faster, and don't hurt you when you walk into them. They only hurt you when you grab them.

Also, note when they're thrown upwards, they fly really fast and fall back down again equally quickly. Any help with this?

Update:


XD I applied the no more sprite limits patch. Unfortunately it's still a bit flickery, and occasionally some tiles do dissapear. I had to time it right to take that screenshot with all the tiles intct.

Goombas/waddle dees are still giving my grief though. I hope it ges sorted soon.
Cool! This hack's more and more awesomer with every update, and indeed, it is something to watch out for, just like ICB's and Broozer's hack. ;)

Well, with the boss all but complete I'm now working on finishing Dark Woods (Or Goomboss bridge as it was before known). I've done the normal exit, and here is the well hidden secret exit. I wont tell you where it is, only that it's obviously through a pipe. it comes with it more news:


Yoshi isn't going to be in the hack. he's bee imprisoned by Bowser (or is it Bowser)? :D

He may well appear later in the game, but definately in the early stages of the game he's imprisoned. He does have a little message, but these screenshots are spoiler-free! :D
