Okay guys, we got an interesting challenge for you that should make you work a little harder this time, while giving you more freedom than the last challenge:
Port any song from any non-nintendo SNES game using only even numbered instruments, as well as instrument 21.
0-1.5 Song Difficulty: Did you pick a hard or easy song to port?
0-1.5 Instrument Choice: Did you pick good instruments even though you were limited?
0-2 Errors: Don't screw anything up!
0-2 Accuracy: Does it sound like the original?
0-3 Overall Sound: Does it sound good?
Deadline: October 3, 2008, 8:00 PM EST
And remember, only the seven contestants that succesfully completed the first round may enter. The participant with the lowest score, as well as any participant who doesn't give an entry will lose after this round.
Whew, that was a close one. My computer had to be taken in to get fixed and I thought that was going to butcher my chances. But I managed to get all the files I needed and use someone else's computer.
I picked a pretty complicated track and it took me until this morning to finish plotting it in Fruity Loops by ear. Now I just need to transcribe to text for Addmusic, which I have a day and a half to do, which should be more than enough.
On a side note, I wish you guys wouldn't change your names so often. It's hard to send an entry by PM to a judge if their name wasn't what it was yesterday.
So, is this "Challenge #1" or "Challenge #2"? I guess it's a bit nitpicky, but how do I title the PM? I just want to make sure I don't get disqualified or something due to a minor technicality.
Edit: Okay, since I'll apparently be waiting all day for this reply I might as well just take my chances and send it.
Super Holy Crap Edit: WOW, am I glad I noticed that. I was all ready to submit and then I realized that the txt file is supposed to be under 3000 bytes and mine was about twice that. I just spent the last couple of hours optomizing it.
After the deadline, I'd like to see the SPCs posted in this forum so we can share our work. I spent a lot of time on this and even if it doesn't win, I'd still like to share it, and of course I'd love to see everyone else's entries. That cool with everyone?
