Used to have a thread about SMBA2:SMB3 here. But since I deleted all the images from my files that made the thread even look nice, I deleted that all together as well.

The game has been making some slow, but nice progress. Sadly, I have to regain my energy from this project, as it's worn me thin. There is just a bit new to show. But that's not saying much.

I have a Spanish translation in the works as well.

Now, here's a few of the new things that are actually hidden in the newest update of SMBA2;SMB3. These are of course not fully finished. But they are in that version, so you can look for those and try em' out.

(ACE WORLD LEVEL)

The rest I'm keeping more secret as it's not easily discoverable. All I will say though is bug fixes, graphical updates, and overhauls.

Any offers of joining the project will be thought about carefully.

ALSO, I forgot to mention this. I have found more SMBA2:SMB3 'betas'. If you'd like to try the still remaining versions, the download is below the image that lists off all the found versions.

DOWNLOAD!

ADDED 23rd VERSION BECAUSE I HAD FORGOTTEN IT.
(If the BPS patches don't work, tell me.)

Those demo levels are awesome, the forest layer 3 with desert are nice and that serves as another kind of level mixed with forest.

The minekart level reminds me of Newer Super Mario Bros DS

The tower level is 100% on stage creation

My Sugestion for the tower level:
For the boss fight when it is defeated, you can change the screen just like SMB3 or put the stage clear like SMBA4 with SMW screen stadistics of the level involved boss.

Yeah, I want to make my game much more than just a simple "Oh hey, since this is a desert world, it's only hot and sandy levels". And actually add more new ideas to the table. I think it's a good change of pace.

The minecart level is actually based around the idea of that. I want more of stuff like what I said for the desert forest level. More variety in background design while keeping the game fun to explore.

And the tower, I was thinking about touching that up a lot. I don't know how, but I will.

And as for the stage clear or anything else... I'm not good with ASM at all. If I wanted to do that, it might be done by the time the game is finished and out.

NOW, since that's out of the way, I have something newer to bring to the table that's been complete since just earlier today. Another Yoshi redesign. It's not 100% complete. I'd say 80%. But it's good for now.

I will release this in the graphics section among other things handcrafted for the game when the update is finished.

Major update

I'm planning to redo some and port the rest of the game to a SA-1 SMW rom, so that SMBA2 supports SA-1. Some ASM or other may be broken if I make the switch, but that's a risk I'm willing to take for a (mostly) better playing experience.

This paves the way for impressive ASM. But, I don't plan on doing ones like MSU-1 (which was already no SA-1 supported). But other enhancements to music or graphics isn't something I'm worried about right now.

If things don't work out on the ASM side, I don't know.

On the other hand, I'm reworking all the graphics to fit the SMB3 style than just flatter color SMW graphics.

Just going to say this now, if you want a SMB3 graphics rom base, don't use SMAB2's. It's way too messy in the backend to be considered anything usable by anyone else but me.

If you do attempt anyway, all I can say is good luck.

The yoshi design is kinda weird. Mario is looking straight to the right (or left) but Yoshi is facing the screen. It looks fine when Yoshi is alone, but when Mario is riding Yoshi it looks really odd.

That's only really small Mario, so I don't think anyone would notice too much. Still a work in progress though. So I may improve prospective.

For much smaller blurbs about new updates to SMBA2, I’ve created a Discord server to share updates more frequently.

There’s also a few extra channels that don’t have to do with SMBA2 at all.

If you’d like to join, my footer on the right box has the link if you click on it. Or click here. Hope to see you there!

Now, regarding actual SMBA2 updates. I’ve finished the outlines for a few more levels. I don’t want to share an incomplete product though.

Well, SMBA2 is really taking my energy and will to continue down, so I'm going back on break to save the project from going down with me... This is what I get for trying to take it on as a one man project, eh?

The amount of time I'll be away is undetermined... But I'll try to keep updated.

If any of you are willing to help out with SMBA2, I would not mind.

The stress that builds up as weeks go by is too much for me. This large of a project for one man is too much… And, as a result… I’m regretful to say that SMBA2 is canceled. This doesn’t mean it is for good. But as far as it stands now, it’s shelved. All I ask from anyone is that they don’t try and continue the game.

Well, I managed to find a bit of motivation for a few more levels. I feel that I'm in a much better mood to continue the game, so prepare for more... : )

Btw, that Discord exists if you want more updates on the game.

so is this game still being worked on or is it cancelled for good?

No. I've put it aside so I can work on the much quicker Hummer Super Mario World. After that is finished, SMBA2 will continue being worked on.
