Literally just a Single Unsampled Port

MusicSuper Mario WorldResource Release

The Lore?
For those who are unaware, I am a relatively new member who joined back in January primarily to make unsampled ports. As it happens, I got involved in a little more than that, and the past month and a half had me preoccupied with my OWDC entry. While I did make 8 brand new ports specifically for that entry, I naturally am unable to show them here for risk of de-anonymizing my entry to the judges. As such, the crux of the issue arose: I had but a few days to whip something up for C3, and with no plan going into it.

The Solution?
I figured rather than trying to make multiple ports that inevitably turn out to be rushed and lower quality, I would pour all of my effort into a single port as a sort of milestone to myself, showcasing how much I've grown over the past 6 months. It may not be perfect, and it may not have the better sounding samples from the original game, but that was kind of the point; I wanted to push the limits of my abilities to make whatever instruments I needed to out of SMW's vanilla samples, even if it wasn't a 1:1 match.

The Result?
Here is the culmination of my efforts, and admittedly something of a banger (if such comments towards my own recreation are not unwarranted). I hope I did the original justice, and hope you can enjoy it:

The Future?
This may be all I have for this C3, but I can guarantee you I have a much grander thread with a unifying theme planned for next time. Who knows, maybe I'll do more than just ports if I have the time!

Thank you for taking the time to read this overexaggerated thread, and I'm eager for this winter when I'll be able to share with you a lot more than literally just a single unsampled port.

Quality over quantity, all the way! This port sounds superb. Maybe I'm biased because I like @1 and @6, but I feel like you used both of them super well, especially the former as both strings and lead!

You've come a long way in such a short period of time with your porting ability, and it makes me super happy to see! If your ports are already sounding this good, then there's no telling how much better they'll sound another 6 months from now. You definitely have the potential!

Now I'm curious to experience those 8 OWDC ports for myself as I'm judging, hehe.

This is excellent for an unsampled port. Utilizing those vanilla instruments to the next level.
I can see this being used in a cutscene or a penultimate level for sure.

Great work #smw{:TUP:}
I really enjoy your unsampled ports, icrawfish. Also, I enjoy how you're bringing some neat themes from Romancing SaGa 2. Usually, people only know the battle songs and miss some neat musics. Anyway, you don't need to have a lot of content for C3, sometimes less is more.

I like the vibe of this port with this imperial feeling. Could fit various types of levels. Castles, tanks, or even cutscenes.

As much as it is literally just a single unsampled port, it is indeed a good unsampled port. I really liked this one!
I can confirm that this post is not clickbait!

The port is just brimming with emotion. Great job with this.

Dang, I thought I was being unique and creative with my "just one port" thread title, I somehow totally missed this one D:

The Romancing SaGa series has incredible music, so there's nothing wrong with having yet another. It sounds really good and accurate, too, especially for an unsampled port.

I think this might make for a good submap theme. Probably a Military Base in the sky, that's kinda what it suggests to me. It's a good port overall.

It's a pretty good port of an awesome song from RS2! I enjoyed RS2 when it was fully localized, so hearing this brings back memories. #smrpg{<3}
Unfortunately, I'm not very active on the site anymore like I was before; I'm mainly on Discord now. Thanks for understanding.
Always been a fan of Romancing Saga music, and this port ain't no different! Well done.

Agree with Daizo, Romancing Saga music is always a good hear, and at the same time, really fitting for smw hacks. Great port!
