Proximity-based ghost house and castle door entrances

I disassembled my first sprite(s) and modified them to use proximity detection for their animation/movement. I don't like the vanilla entrance scenes, but they could be useful in providing atmosphere.

Ghost house door

Castle door
This is gonna be so useful for hacks that aim to make Castles and Ghost Houses more immersive

Great job. I love how intimidating this proximity-based entrances are. It's like something very evil or haunted is waiting Mario inside. Captures well the feeling and immersion. I love it.

This is really cute! I love those little expansions to SMW's original resources, especially to stuff that often goes unnoticed like those doors.

I've wanted to delve into how these work at some point, but I never got around to it; mostly for making it possible to add doors to custom no yoshi entrances (our patch really could use an update by the way...). But making them usable in actual levels is a whole 'nother level of neat.
Oh wow, this is awesome. Are these available for download, or is it still in-progress?
I'm digging this, really cool edits! Gives a more fresh use to vanilla entrances.

This is pretty interesting, i always wanted to make custom castle/ghost house entrances but i never really liked the original ones.

I believe their location was hardcoded by default. These can be moved, but I need to fix an issue when the sublevel has more than one screen and half of the OAM tiles wrap near screen borders.

Not available yet, but soon. I made these a while ago, but didn't fix the issue described above yet since my hack has these on single screen sublevels.
It's such a small addition but it adds a lot of depth to your castle/ghost house transitions. Definitely interested to use them in future levels.
This is a really cool idea, especially for Ghost Houses. I can see there being a lot of good uses for something like this.
Check out my WIP romhack!
Woah, this is actually pretty cool! It's a small touch, but it really does add so much more to entering a ghost house or castle.
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
Does this work if you place it at the end of a level or is it still restricted to the first screen? Asking for a friend.
Wow, this is one of those things I never knew I needed, yet now that I see it, I wonder how it was never a thing before this. I'm especially a fan of the ghost house one. Great job on these; I imagine these sprites are very finicky to work with, so to jump right into them as your first disassembly, that's amazing!

This seems very well done and elegant. I'm also not a fan of the original vanilla entrances, but as you said this might be useful for atmospheric purpuses. I think my potential interest in this depends on this:

lmao

Even funnier with sound.
So i guess I should fix that screen wrap bug.
HAH still, works once you fix the wrap. This is awesome.
This looks super neat, and I am willing to be there will be some very nice applications of it in people's hacks in the future.

This is one of those little things that really makes hacks more immersive. Very neat idea, can see it being used quite a bit in future hacks!
Ok this is really awesome! I definitely can use this for my hack! if I ever work on it again

Interesting sprite. With some automatic movement shenanigans, I can see interesting castle/ghost house entrances being cooked up. Also, by fixing that wrap glitch, you open the possibilities of this being used in end levels too - which gives the users more options to do some interesting level transitions.
