Gamma V's Graphics Gallery - Summer 2021 Edition

Another C3 inevitably means more graphics. The first is one I've been meaning to submit for at least a week.


BG+Layer 3 High Mountains
This is kinda inspired by World 6 of New Super Mario Bros, along with the background I made for 6-3 of Vanilla Islands.

Layer 3 "Vanilla-ish" Castle Interior
This uses vanilla graphics that have been converted to 2bpp. Some edits were made in the process, so it's not COMPLETELY vanilla. It would still be great for vanilla-styled/choconilla hacks.

Like I said on Discord, I love to see more layer 3 backgrounds. I always feel limited when doing a layer 2 level. Thanks so much for these contributions and all your graphical work, which I use a lot.

Thanks, Pointless. Yeah, the pool of Layer 3 backgrounds is a bit limited, especially if you want something that fits with SMW's or SMAS's art style.

Dungeon/Sewer/Water Castle

This is a simple background that can be used wherever you need grates, bricks, and falling liquid of some sort. Said falling liquid uses palette rotation ExAnimation to animate.

Simple but very effective, and very SMW-like. I especially like how the castle background can be used for both lava castles and sewers with just a palette swap!

You always make really nice graphics and I like how you showed a few different palettes that the castle could use for different environments.

Those World 6 mountains in NSMB look pretty flat, but I will admit it wouldn't look out of place in a Super Mario All-Stars styled hack! Nice work on that castle background, though!

These are all really nice as usual, Gamma V! My favourite has got to be the mountain BG. With any luck, I'll remember it exists whenever I make a mountain level in my hack and I'll use it.

I guess time will tell, haha.

Very nice custom graphics! The castle/dungeon graphics in particular seem like they could be pretty versatile, which is always a good thing. I really like the mountains as well; they give off an oddly uplifting vibe, as though it would fit into a kids’ game.
