Fido Dido's Kaizo: Light Hack In Progress

Kaizo/PitSuper Mario WorldDemoVideo/TrailerScreenshots

Ladies, gentlemen and transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, etc. folks!

In case you haven't known it yet, I tried to make a kaizo: hack one day, but I was known under a different name and the hack was bad (Ah, these old days of kaizo: light!). I lost that hack because I was stupid enough to make no backups at the time. Hopefully, what I intend to present is better than the older work.

So after having several problems with PC, various time constraints, slacking, horrible time management, and last-minute work, I'm proudly presenting to you...
Super Pragmatic World!
It's a vanilla-styled kaizo hack revolving around vanilla sprite mechanics and some unorthodox ways to involve them. I'm trying to make this hack moderately difficult, which means a fair amount of challenge and nothing as off-bounds to average players as Storks. As you can see in this thread's title, it's still in progress so don't worry about some things looking unpolished or unfinished. I've finished two levels so far. I know it's a few, but you're getting an opportunity not only to see, but also play them!

And now, showoff!

Here's the patch if you wanna try it out.

If you find something that concerns you such as the way a certain setup was handled or weird and unintended behavior of things, feel free to post it in this thread.

See you next C3 with more things to come!

Basically, I believe in peace and bashing two bricks together.

So I've been periodically following your hacking trajectory, and I'm amazed at how much you have improved over the years. This hack is a living source of that, and both levels are nicely done aside from unfinished aesthetics I'm sure you'll take care of later.

However, if I'm to give some criticisms/suggestions, it's to make the second half of the first level a bit more focused. I'm a fan of chasing bullet/banzai bills if done correctly, and the first half did have some action, but it went downhill really quickly by the second half, because all it focuses on is banzai bill dodging in the most monotonous ways. I'm also assuming you're going to keep the map location of the levels due to the moles in stage 2, but I'm personally not too sold on their delayed timing.

Nonetheless, it was enjoyable as a whole and I don't doubt you'll make it even better as you go on. Good luck!
