Site Staff and Helper Applications
In lieu of our periodically recurring staff applications, this thread will stand open year-round as a list of which positions around the site are in need of filling, granting our team managers more leeway to recruit more help as the need arises. In addition, this thread will document openings for Site Helper positions.
Unlike a Moderator, who is a full-time member of the

What exactly it is a Helper does varies from section to section, and the role can exist with respect to a specific project (like a remoderation or a contest) - be sure to read and understand the details regarding the position you are applying for!

In your application, please specify which position you are applying for in the PM subject. Regardless of the specific role, your application should be built around the following:

, your job is to browse and keep on top of specific forums on SMW Central, keeping an eye out for instances where moderator intervention is necessary and acting upon this with the assistance of the main
team. The role includes:
- Reporting issues to the
team where intervention such as warnings and bans may be necessary.
- Closing/Moving/Trashing threads where required.
- Reporting post layouts and other user profile elements where they are not in compliance with the site rules.
In your application, you should make it clear which forum(s) you wish to help moderate, as these are the forums you will be given basic moderation powers in if your application is successful. You are not required to moderate forums outside of your moderation areas. However, if you do spot issues there you're encouraged to report them to someone who does moderate that forum. You are also welcome to take part in discussions relating to forum moderator operations.
What We're Looking For
You must have a good knowledge and understanding of the forum and site rules.
You will be enforcing them, so knowing and following the rules is essential.
You must have regular availability.
We're not expecting you to be able to devote 10 hours/day to SMW Central or anything extreme, but you must be around often enough to efficiently fulfill your helper role.
You must be able to join the SMW Central Discord server.
Many of our conversations take place in our Discord server, so being able to take part in them is imperative. Much like the last point, you do not have to be available all day long, but you must be able to respond to pings where necessary.
You must be fluent in English.
The site's primary language is English, so being able to speak it is essential to take part in not only staff/helper discussions, but to step in where instances require moderator intervention in the site forums too. English does not have to be your first language and your language abilities do not have to be perfect, but we should be able to hold a regular conversation with little difficulty.

Job Description: Show/Hide Summary
As a Discord Moderator, you are simply striving to make sure everyone is following the rules and remaining respectful. You have to keep an eye out, across the whole server, for rulebreaks, including everything from discriminatory remarks, to NSFW content, to ROM uploads.
As a Discord moderator, you are expected to remain calm and neutral in all situations, even if a user frustrates you. Your position of authority should not be used to stir the pot. If you have personal bias against a user, it's alright to pass the baton onto another mod. Sloppy moderation and drama instigation will not be tolerated. If you feel that your emotions often get the best of you, then this is not the job for you.
Frequency of Activity
As a Discord Moderator, you are expected to actively participate in moderator-related discussions as much as you can. These discussions happen both within the Discord and on the forums. Beyond simply deleting messages, there is some janitorial work in keeping things logged, and participating in proposed feature/reorganization updates. As for the most hands-on part, ideally, we strive to have at least two or three moderators online at a time, so that if an issue is brought up behind the scenes, more than one person is there to give their opinion. This way, not only can we quickly take action if necessary, but we can also make sure that what we have a consensus that it's the right thing to do. This isn't to say you should lose sleep and be online 24/7. We are a team, after all! Just keep an eye on the server to make sure things are running smoothly whenever you're available. Unlike the other types of moderation on the site, moderating itself is less taxing, at the cost of requiring much higher involvement.
You should also be able to call out users on problematic behaviour, when necessary, and in doing so, be as stern as it calls for in your point of view, though without being unnecessarily rude. For example, a channel redirect shouldn't have the same tone as somebody repeatedly posting slurs.
Being a Discord moderator is not a one-person job. Above all, we work together as a team to make sure that the rules are enforced properly and fairly. To ensure neutrality, you are expected to always consult with your fellow mods before taking any serious action. The Application Itself: Show/Hide

SMW Graphics Helper Application Info: Show/Hide
Hey everyone, we're looking for some more help in the graphics section since the team has gotten a little thin recently. With us prepping for a remoderation soon:tm: we're looking for someone with quite a bit of availability to help keep the queue clear and to help out with the actual remoderation when the time comes. We're open for a helper right now, but promotion to full graphics moderator is possible.
SMW Graphics moderators and helpers are expected to:
1) Have an understanding of pixel art and graphics, especially within SNES and SMW Hacking limitations, pinpoint general and specific flaws and mistakes, as well as be able to suggest improvements.
2) Know their way around the technicalities involved in custom graphics for SMW Hacking (Lunar Magic navigation, map16 editing, palmasking, etc.)
3) Understand usability and the optimization thereof with regards to graphics (Organizing map16, splitting graphics files effectively, reducing palette consumption, etc.)
3) Write constructive, informative, and educational removal logs
4) Dedicate some time, albeit not massive, towards a serious and not so exciting task
5) Be mature, understand voluntary teamwork, and know when matters should be brought to discussion with the rest of the staff team first

SMW Patch Remoderation Helper Application Info: Show/Hide
The Patch Remoderation Helper position has a narrower focus and a more relaxed time demand, and may be a good way to get a taste of the moderation process. A Remoderation Helper needs to:
• Possess a suitable grasp of ASM coding basics
• Know how to apply patches with Asar
• Know how to convert manual freespace to automatic
• Possess a rudimentary understanding of SA-1 and SA-1 hybridized patches
• Be able to demonstrate appropriate thoroughness in testing a resource
A Helper is granted a line of communication with the ASM Team on Discord and the forums, so you wouldn't be out there all on your own. Simply check in once in a while, and update a few patches here and there.
