Placed 36th. I'm satisfied! Congrats to Lazy for winning and to everyone else for the levels and I would also like to thank the judges for their thoughts and the time taken to do a great work!

34th place... You know, I was afraid something like this would happen, despite me placing a few hints within the level itself, particularly the blatant "YB→" in the blocks after the normal goal.

So, KTB and patcdr clearly figured out the gimmick, and gave me excellent scores. NopeContest didn't figure it out, but still gave me a decent score. And, to answer NopeContest's question (and anyone else who may be wondering), the gimmick of my level is to hold Y, B, and right to "semi-automatically" complete the level. There is also a "semi-automatic" way to reach the secret exit, which is hinted at in an optional bonus room.

And then, I look at Sinc-X's score of my level, which is a horrible 16. I'm sorry, but that HURTS. Not only did he not get the gimmick (and refuse to modify his score after learning about it later), but he insulted (yes, I'm saying "insulted" here) my general level design as a whole, which was meant to still play like a perfectly fine level even if the player didn't get the gimmick.

It especially stings because a fan-judge that had been a real judge in the past gave me a perfect 60 score, and that gave me high hopes that I'd do really well in this contest. I didn't expect to actually take first place with all 60s or anything, but I thought I'd be almost assuredly well into the top 10.

Sorry if I came off as salty in this post, but honestly, I kinda am.

Fan judge that gave your level a 60/60 here :V
The thing is, as much as I liked your level, I would have been shocked if anyone else had such strong feelings toward it like I did (which is why I added that part at the end of my review about how I hope it does well, because I had a feeling that at least one judge wouldn't quite "get" it).
That's not to say that I think your level's bad (obviously I don't since I gave it a perfect score), but automatic levels are one of those things that just aren't for everyone. I don't particularly agree with what Sinc-X said about your level's gimmick (I would probably have agreed with him more had the level been fully automatic with nothing more to it than that, but that's not what your level is), but again, not everyone likes those kinds of levels. Nothing in his review screams "insult", he just didn't like the level. That's pretty much it. I wouldn't take it so personally; 34th place is still very good.

Check out my WIP romhack!
Aw man, 87th place! #smw{:(}
Then again, I can understand, That I probably made my level pretty hard and frustrating with those baseball Chucks and Koopa Kickers. And I should probably made my level a bit easier. By putting Koopa Kickers in more better spots. And use the baseball Chucks a little less. But in the end, I still had fun in participating in this contest! That's what matters! Even tho, I got in 87th place and I am a pretty sad. But, I can understand the judges criticism on my level. Oh, and congrats to the winners!!!
It was quite fun participating and I'm quite happy for making it to the upper half still. And congratulations to the winners!

Yeah, I suppose. But seeing that 16 did immediately seem very insulting to me, since I feel the level should've at least been considered "average" quality without the gimmick. I guess my method of creativity just can't please everyone. Also, I was apparently the unlucky one to have the highest Max-Min range out of all entrants. (Maybe I should get a trophy for taking 1st place with that? :P)
I didn't expect to get 18th place im quite happy about that looking forward to another OLDC because this contest was actually pretty fun because of how i got to play around with vanilla assets which is something i don't usually do :D

also congratulations to the winners of this contest #w{=)}

This is my layout i plan on adding one soon

I have a discord server smwc users only

(Server is closed for now)
Some of you may remember my level for that Yoshi moment on Nope's stream on SMWC's Twitch, but...

21st place?! What?! WHAT?! There's no way in heck this is really happening. Just 1 place away from top 20. It's a pretty high placement for something that isn't exactly close to perfection, and it's far better than expected since fan judges were mixed and one of them wasn't really fond of my level.

The biggest flaws were the 5-for-3 portion (the 2nd puzzle focusing on that seems more consistent, although it also demanded broad knowledge of the game's mechanics), the blind throwing portion in the yellow Yoshi part, and the secret exit, which is right at the end and doesn't add anything to the level experience.

I imagine only a few people would get these 5-for-3 parts right without taking many attempts or watching the clear video. I believe a vague hint didn't exactly help it. I may not have realized that. On the other hand of it, though, a lot of the players wouldn't have learned the technique hadn't they played my level. #w{=)}
BTW,  patcdr, you could've used the 1-up gate checkpoint to go straight to the 1st "avoid eating as much as possible" section instead of having to go through the struggle.

I could've made that part with rocks on clouds more player-friendly, but - again - I didn't realize that could be a struggle. I thought the wide platform (which wasn't as wide initially) made it lenient enough and that this setup was really cool at first, but it seems nobody had complained about that before the deadline, either.

Probably a better setting for the secret exit would've been some more exploration (which I'm not good with) or something with "another level" feeling (which is popular in kaizo and I'm capable of doing). Thankfully, shortcuts made up for it being right at the end.

To sum up, I may have polished my level much more, but I had no access to my computer for the last days of the contest. I might have probably entered top 10 if I hadn't risked as much as I usually tend to do. I have taken judges' feedback to my heart and I'll try harder next time around!

And finally, while memed multiple times, congrats to the winners, especially OEO6 (who suddenly went all in with something really nifty) and  Lazy (who might bribe mods to give him 1st place in every level design contest he partakes)!

See y'all next OLDC!
I have a Discord server as well!

13th place! I didn't expect it at all, especially because my mind was devoid of ideas at one point :P But I'm happy nonetheless. Congrats, everybody!
Congrats!
I do miss some of the classic hack designs myself.
I should ask recommendations and play a few.

Please pardon the eye.
My level (Coasting Redwoods) got 76th place, which is higher than I expected. Based on the fan judging comments, I thought I would've placed closer to the bottom. This was the second level I ever made (and the first time I ever entered an LDC), after starting SMW hacking in late March. I took a risk by submitting something with so little experience, but with the low barrier to entry of this contest, at least it was good motivation to start creating things in an engine I love.

After reading my reviews, I understand where I went wrong. I think I was just having so much fun coming up with different setups, that I got carried away and it ended up being a relentless gauntlet. And I never really considered what would happen if you took your time at each setup, instead of rushing through them like when I playtested my level. That must have been a reason why there were enemy spawning shenanigans that gave people some trouble. In any case, I just wanted to make a skinny vertical level, because I don't think I've seen too many of those lately. Though I've learned that they can be temperamental.

Despite not placing in the top half, I'm happy enough that some people saw the potential in my ideas. Good job to everyone who placed high and to those who did better than they thought.
Those who won congratulations only  Lazy, OEO6 and Sixcorby #smrpg{<3}

I was happy with my result. #tb{^^}
Some people consider my level to be obnoxious... but the judges would say that... and that's what happened. Until wasn't too bad. #tb{^V^}
My placement was not among the 10 worst, this to me is already worth something.
I enjoyed having the opportunity to participate in this event!!

Ty...

Congratulations to the winners!!!

Got a perfect 40/60! And took 40th place! I'm pretty okay with that considering this is my first contest.

And of course, congratulations to all the other winners!

YY-CHR > Photoshop.
Congratulations to the winners! The Top 10 is a pretty good batch of levels, with second place being awarded to my personal favorite entry, mycologic masochism by OEO6.

OLDC is an interesting way to get level designers to be more creative under tight restrictions, and with some of the entries I certainly found some inventive setups and ideas. I'm looking forward to the next OLDC!

Too much of an smw-ish ghost house for it's own good.

Congrats to the winners and thanks to the organizers for making this possible.

Looking forward to OLDC again soon. #smrpg{y}
Lots of love, S1Z2 <3

Nothing for now.

Massive thanks to Giga for making the layout!
I've got 69th place, which is not bad for my first contest.

Congrats to all who participate in this event!

Oh?! I never thought I would get 32nd place, but I'm so happy.
Congratulations all winners!

Got 15, it was shocking to see i made it to a higher place this time. Congrats to the winners and participants #smw{:TUP:}

That's a little harsh, NopeContest. Sure, the entries are anonymous, but I did test and spend more than three hours on it. The jumping over the level is an intentional meme the message box refers to, I guess the joke went over the judge's head.

Kinda interesting to see how two of the judges liked it and gave similarly high score, and then two others didn't and gave similarly low score, oh well, though I am aware it's kinda basic average level and that was my goal to be honest.

Anyway, Im not disagreeing on the top10, good job everyone#smw{:TUP:}.

Figured as such that trying to wrestle with one of the most obnoxious level element gimmicks in the game would be a shot in my foot, but I still pushed it anyways for my own amusement of attempting to make a decent level from it. Perhaps a better idea will drift to mind in another few years give or take.
