The main reason for removal is a mix of big and small issues adding up to make a not so enjoyable experience for the player.
Starting off with one of the most prominent issues. Slowdown.
So many levels are riddled with slowdown in many areas. Its quite common in Layer 3 Tide Levels as well as Underwater Levels. I've added a white box around the certain sections I've included in my Screenshot Log so you can see which areas have really bad slowdown issues.
There are many instances of glitched graphics which are very common with Yoshi. Seeing as he is in like 99% of the levels there are many ways in which Big Yoshi can meet Baby Yoshi and thus cause some graphic glitches. There are ways you can prevent this as well as patches that fix this issue. Another minor one is the ON/OFF Blocks showing incorrect GFX when you hit them which again is another small fix you can easily do.
Sprite Limitations also occur in some levels. This is mainly in levels with intense slowdown so try to reduce the amount of sprites on screen as well as testing each level as Normal Mario as well as Mario & Yoshi as the extra sprites can add to the lag.
The hack is classed as "Standard:Normal" however with the sheer amount of powerups given to you at the start of nearly every level it becomes really easily to just fly or power through each level. I like the idea of having Yoshi included more but giving the player multiple capes and flowers at the start of each stage really does negate any challenge. The same can be said for the Star Run sections which are pretty common as well as again making some extra sprite related slowdown.
I've found some instances in which Moving Layer 2 can become pretty broken by backtracking through the level. SMW got away with this as they made it so it was super hard to backtrack through these areas. Letting the player go back towards the moving layers can cause them to break so I'd definitely double check and fix this level of any issues.
Palettes in many levels are pretty garish. Some Custom Palettes are okay but some of the Bright Cyan & Yellows are not too pleasing on the eyes. They could do with some editing or just using different default SMW palettes.
I found some Floating Munchers in one sublevel. Not a removal reason on its own however its pretty lazy and can be fixed by either having a different type of GFX used for it or making it so they are grounded and not floating.
I found in a few levels you can clip into certain ceilings which probably shouldn't happen. I found this pretty common in the Sumo Level in the Sky World. Make sure to double check any Map16 or layouts you make so Mario can't get inside them.
The last main point of removal is the overall Level Design. The hack has a lot of original levels however some feel way too close to their originals. They share the same palettes and even certain level design sections. I noticed this a lot with the Special World levels which are pretty much just edited levels which we don't allow. You should always make each level from scratch. If you are unsure or unfamiliar with how to edit everything in SMW you can always change the backgrounds or palettes so they don't just feel like level edits. Although I said this was most common in the Special World I did notice it a lot through the main levels with even myself checking the original SMW and seeing the similarities.
Overall the hack needs a lot of polish in a good few areas as well as the main level design needing to be checked so that levels don't just feel like edited SMW levels which I can see many are. It might take time to address these issues but I feel like its extremely possible. Making longer hacks like these do require a lot of work so I'd also recommend getting some play testers as well to make sure everything is ready for the next submission.
