Tip: The No More Sprite Tile Limits patch does NOT increase the limit for the amount of sprites onscreen at once. The SA-1 Pack does.

A couple of questions about editing the credits

Okay, so I have a few questions about the credits and similar topics. First of all, I wanted to change Peach’s palette to row B. I found this thread and was wondering what exactly to do. From what I can gather you should add 011 to the table at $03AA1E:

I assume you’d replace the 00s, so it’d look something like this:

I’m also not exactly sure how to make something into a patch to edit these values.

Secondly, how would I adjust the “The End” screen? Is there a way to alter it?

Finally, how do you edit the text that appears after beating Bowser?

Thank you and sorry for such a long post. Have a good day.

I recommend this version of the patch from that thread. All you have to do is paste it into a text file, change the file extension from .txt to .asm, and apply it with asar:

Code
!A = $00
!B = $01
!C = $40
!D = $41

; x being first digit of number

; x0 = Palette 8 (First Page)
; x1 = Palette 8 (Second Page)
; x2 = Palette 9 (First Page)
; x3 = Palette 9 (Second Page)
; x4 = Palette A (First Page)
; x5 = Palette A (Second Page)
; x6 = Palette B (First Page)
; x7 = Palette B (Second Page)
; x8 = Palette C (First Page)
; x9 = Palette C (Second Page)
; xA = Palette D (First Page)
; xB = Palette D (Second Page)
; xC = Palette E (First Page)
; xE = Palette E (Second Page)
; xD = Palette F (First Page)
; xF = Palette F (Second Page)

org $03AA1E
			db !B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B
			db !D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D
			db !B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B
			db !B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B,!B
			db !A,!A,!A,!A,!B,!B,!A,!A
			db !A,!A,!A,!A,!A,!A,!A,!A
			db !D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D
			db !D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D,!D
			db !C,!C,!C,!C,!D,!D,!C,!C
			db !C,!C,!C,!C,!C,!C,!C,!C

As for what the values actually mean, these values are in what is known as the YXPPCCCT format, a binary format that defines various graphical properties of a sprite tile. In particular, the palette corresponds to the "CCC" bits, and you don't want to touch the remainder of the bits. This particular version of the patch basically has all the info you need to know, though; you only need to mess with the four defines at the top, and the comments below state how to edit those values to change the palette in use. For instance, if you want to have Peach use palette B, you would use $06, $07, $46, and $47 for the four values.

As for editing the THE END screen, you would just edit the GFX data for them. You can find it split between GFX30, GFX2D, and GFX2C.

Hey, sorry to reply so late, Hackjam and such got in the way, but I got the patch working only to discover that some of peach's graphics aren't effected by this for some reason, such as the Riding Yoshi sprites. Any idea what's going on?

Ah, that's because the code for Peach during those scenes is in a different location. Try adding this:

Code
!E = $21
!F = $20

org $0CA7ED
	db !E,!E,!E,!E
	db !E,!E,!E,!E
	db !E,!E,!E,!E
	db !E,!E,!E,!E
	db !F,!F,!F,!F
	db !E,!E,!E,!E
	db !E.!E,!E,!E

Same rules for changing the !E/!F values.
