Having tested the waters of point-based gimmicks with my KLDC level, the next logical step was to plunge straight into the depths of score puzzle hell. After working away in our shell repository for a month and a half, we (GbreezeSunset, MiracleWater and I) are now ready to show off our entry.
South Point Hotel is a puzzle hack with kaizo stylings. It consists of a number of one-screen puzzle rooms, each containing a chest that unlocks once your score matches the required number.
The rooms are divided up into five floors of increasing difficulty. On each floor, you can solve the puzzles in any order until you've cleared enough of them to proceed to the next floor. Not every single puzzle needs to be beaten to proceed-- each floor gives you the chance to skip a couple rooms of your choosing, should you need it.
As of the time of writing this, most of the hack is done. We just have to finalize some ASM and make the title screen/overworld/credits. Hopefully, we'll have a playable version out soon!
