The quality really sucks. Oh well.
Seems a little enemy-heavy for a level so early in the game, and the chain-chomp that hurt you after the one jump is cheap, but other than that it's a great level. (Mabye give thwomps a different gfx for rock type levels... like a brown, cracked thwomp... It'd look sweet)

2-1? Seems a bit too dificult for the second world, with the chomps and the thwomps...

And I agree with Spigmike, try giving the Thwomps new GFX for non-castle levels.

The level itself looks well done, btw.
Yeah, if you make the difficult like this in the 2nd world, imagine the last world... XD

Well, maybe I'll replace the roving chomps with spinies. I'm keeping the chained ones though, although placing them in less cheap places. :P

actually, i thought it was pretty good difficulty wise for a 2nd world. you should leave it as is, if not harder IMO.

Nice level you got there. I like your use of obstacles, and your graphics are nice too. Also, I like your sprite combination. I do agree that it seems a bit hard for 2-1, I guess this hack will be in the range of Anikiti/Reading's hacks in that case.

Also, this confirms airship levels. ;)

(Note: That isn't an actual level, just a test level. The sky is too bright. :P)

Story, for those of you who thought this might not have one.

Spoiler:
The Staff of Dreams allows the user to make all their dreams cone true. Unfortunately, the staff has limited power and can only be at full power with the presence of a pure soul, and seven star shards. Once Bowser broke into the Temple of Reality (Pending name), where the Staff of Dreams is located, he opened a portal to another dimension to build up a huge army. He kidnapped Peach so that he had a pure soul to use, and he kept the 7 star shards he gathered under guard across the kingdom, so he'd have enough power to open a large portal when the invasion was ready. Of course, when Mario starts his adventure, he only knows that Bowser has once again captured Princess Peach and is going to rescue her.

that seems like a kirby game story, but i like it

I really like your story. It definitely seems in keeping with the "real" Marioverse, which is always good.

Just out of curiosity - what kind of music are you using in this? Are you drawing from any games in particular?

No, I'm just kind of picking music I think will fit certain levels. *shrugs*

Pictured here is the spinning log from YI, and a rolling chomp from Super Mario Galaxy. :)

Although they look somewhat crappy in a screen, they look much better animated.
Sweet! before i red the post, i thought it was a chain chomp that knocks stuf fout of it's way. that would've been cool.

Lower Blue River
It's a river level. BTW, I've added a river to the OW. :P





Not bad. I like how the FG water blends nearly perfectly with the background - however, I don't like the way the logs go into the river. They look like they just .. stop. I know you tried to do a ripple effect there, but I'd suggest making it a bit bigger, or make the log more curved near the bottom.
Instead of taking your advice, I took Blackhole89's. (Heh.)
