I'm using an Android phone, through ExaGear, I can open Lunar Magic
Extract the graphics (#lm{extgfx} button), open GFX00.bin with a tile editor such as YY-CHR, save and insert the new graphics with the #lm{insgfx} button.

I use ExaGear on Android to open Lunar Magic

I hope it works

I opened Lunar Magic at level 105 (Yoshi's Island 1), pressed the button (#lm{extgfx} Quick Extract GFX from ROM), next to my ROM it generated a folder called 'Graphics', inside this folder is the file GFX00 .bin

But i not know where the YY-CHR editor is, is he in Lunar Magic or SMW Central? If he are on SMW Central: Please give me the download link, If he's in Lunar Magic then you tell me where he is

Okay, there you are!

I downloaded it, and managed to open the app, but it looks like it's in Japanese or another incomprehensible language

There's no way to put these strange letters in a translator because i can't even type

To translate i would have to open the program in some hex editor, and then translate the application

I'm going to try to download the program again, but it looks like there's no way.

It would also be good if I put a print here to show how the program is doing.

->

Hexadecimal Editor is a program that "translates applications literally"

You have to rename the extension of either yychr.ENG or yychr.ENU to match the language of your computer. So if your computer is in Brazilian Portuguese, rename the extension to .PTB in order to change the tool's language to English.

You can try renaming the extension to .PTG.

Why are you using European Portuguese, if you're from Brazil?

I'm using an Android cellphone, on that cellphone I use the ExaGear app to open Lunar Magic

ExaGear is an app that open Windows apps on Android

ExaGear is in Portuguese from Portugal, why? I don't know, we have to ask the developer of this app

But even without being able to have a Windows computer, I'll be able to create my ROM hacks

Lunar Magic here is working fine, hopefully all applications work fine too

Yes! Is .PTG

When opening GFX00.bin, a "mess" appears on the YY-CHR screen, is this normal? 🤔
I expected to see 'Nintendo Presents', but I didn't see it.

Where should I place the new graphic?
Does the new graphic put into the 'Graphics folder'? Or should I put the new graphic next to the ROM? 🤔

I had several doubts 🤔

YY-CHR is a graphics editor which supports graphic formats of multiple consoles. That means, the default graphic format may not look correctly by default (which in my case is 4BPP MSX for .bin files) but you can easily switch between them (which in this case is supposed to be 4BPP SNES, naturally, though some graphics may require 2BPP GB instead).

Where you put the graphics depends on whether you replace the original graphics (which is what you're trying to do) or add new graphics. Replacements belong to "Graphics" and in fact, editing doesn't require you to play around with the files at all besides editing them.
I open the GFX00.bin file and configure the YY-CHR application as follows:

Graphic format:
4BPP SNES / PCE CG
Pattern:
Normal

On the YY-CHR screen appeared the phrase 'Nintendo Presents' along with various graphics of the game, but the color is all bluish

Moved the 'First logo, Fangamestalgia.jpg' file to the 'Graphics folder'

And now I do what?
Because my goal is for the game to have my name

And now I do what?

You can't use .jpg files in SMW hacks. You have to edit the graphcis in GFX00.bin using YY-CHR. Click on a tile in the left half and edit it in the right half. It works basically like Paint.

The colors you see in YY-CHR don't really matter, because graphics and colors are two separate things in SMW. You can change the colors in the bottom right part of the window, and you can also import a.pal file to display things in SMW's palette.

What you mean to say?

Open the file 'First logo, Fangamestalgia.jpg' in Paint

In Paint i click to select an image,

Then click to retort the image in Painf,

And then click to paste into YY-CHR app with GFX00.bin open?

That's it?

(Please don't PM me with questions.)

Yes, you can do it that way, but you can also draw in YY-CHR itself.

Here's a tuorial on how graphics work, and here's a tutorial on how to use YY-CHR.

Keep also in mind that JPEGs are lossy i.e. they are a terrible format to store pixel art since pixel art uses a limited palette but lossless images add in artefacts. PNGs are better since they are lossless (BMP and GIF also are options but limited in their own ways) which makes them great with limited colours (including pixel art).

In addition, colour limitation is another big factor since the SNES uses indexed colour which means most tiles are limited 15 colours (+ one colour for transparency) which also limits you using too many colours for the Nintendo Presents (to the point where you might resort to using patches).
Administrators don't block this thread because I or someone else can still ask questions, or someone else can bring more information about it!

Yes, I've already modified the basics, changed 'Nintendo Presents' to 'Presents Fangamestalgia', due to the default space available I had to shrink the letters

Future issues that can be commented here are:

* Put larger letters
* Upload a photo
* Etc ...

Thank you SMW Central

Who to modify must press the buttons:
* Quick Extract GFX from ROM
* Quick Insert GFX to ROM

If you confuse the button, your ROM will look like a creepy folder (creepypasta)

Thank you SMW Central

If you want to use a large image or new palette for Nintendo Presents, you need a patch. There are a few out there:
https://smwc.me/s/14754 lets you use a custom palette https://smwc.me/s/14754 Makes it 64x64 pixels
https://smwc.me/s/28284 Makes it 128x128
https://smwc.me/s/14757 Allows a full screen

I’m not sure how difficult they are to install
