Interesting trailer, I like this hack's graphical style. That said, I do think it's odd how the status bar sometimes goes behind the level (like at 0:11).Check out my WIP romhack!
While they are not in this demo, here's some additional levels from World 2.
man this thread really isn't getting the attention it deserves
lemme change that
this hack is just excelent! it's kinda sad that the demo has some graphical glitches but man, that artstyle is just lovely! i really liked the cutscenes as well, overall, nice job ralshi!
I remember you posting some of this definitely deserves more attention than it has been receiving.
You are challenged by Champion Daisy!
LAYOUT FOOTER:
The status bar was the first thing that caught my eye. Overall I think this might be the most fangame-looking SMW hack I've seen. (in a good way of course.)
Nice work!
Like WYE, the status bar really caught my eye with how detailed and intricately designed it looks. A little strange to see it occasionally appear behind foreground elements in the level, but I'm sure there's some technical reason for it that can be tweaked in the future. Still, all the extra animations—the idle animations, the spin jump Mario does in one of the clips, and even the small cutscenes—it's genuinely hard to believe this is even Super Mario World anymore! This is a very charming project and I hope to see even more of it.
It's a little unfortunate that it doesn't work well in most emulators due to CPU speed, but I also don't really know how you'd fix without completely porting it over to a new SA-1 ROM so I suppose BSNES will just have to do.
Yeah this is the sort of thing that makes me think even if I muster the will to put something together, it won't be as good as what people put out these days.
This looks excellent, I'll give this a shot. It has its own flair and a good one at that
Thank you everyone for the replies 😺
As for the status bar going behind the foreground, I know that there's a fix for it, but it's not compatible with the Super Status Bar patch (which is used in the hack)
Fixed a rare wrong warp in "Infected Lake 3" (Part 1), the world intros now still plays even if you finish their respective level, fixed other minor issues
I'm gonna upload a full playthrough of the demo, but since I won't be able to edit this post after C3, just check my youtube channel in some days if you want to see it.
There's 3,5 hours of video to edit I'm gonna go crazy
