Welcome to my first c3 thread in a long time! This time, im here to present:


Super Mario World Redone
(name still pending)

That's right!, this hack is the first world of super mario world, but with redone gfx, this hack also features some small fixes and various improvements to the vanilla game!

















As the title said, this is only a demo, i plan to redo the entire game in this artstyle, while adding even more fixes and probably one or two easter eggs.

Known bugs
-Level 3's bg pretty much dies due to vertical scrolling
-Level 4 priority problems due to tides

I really love how this looks! The artstyle is so vibrant and saturated. I was sold alone on the pic of Mario by the giant gate in YI1 that you posted in the Discord, but getting to experience the full thing in action is wonderful. I love how you've included beta stuff like the donut clouds or Yoshi fireballs too!

These aesthetics go a long way in making the game feel so fresh and new. I think Yoshi's Island 1 is my favourite.

i plan to include more beta stuff, perhaps some enemies? im not sure tbh but it will be fun to poke around and fix some things at the same time

Seen quite a few of these type of "Super Mario World but better looking" styled hacks, but this one definitely takes the cake in visual appeal by far. The tilesets and backgrounds chosen work well together to help elevate the original levels and better emphasize their individuality. Pretty excited to see where you take this as you progress, Donut Plains is a big favorite of mine :P
This looks absolutely gorgeous, I'm definitely going to have to play the full thing and admire all the changes.

This concept looks pretty interesting and as far as I can see in the screenshots, this hacks looks absurdly gorgeous. I might check it out in a couple days. Again, congrats for the amazing job!

working on this has been quite an experience, i hope i can finish the whole thing by the end of the year
I like what your hack is going for. "Redrawn SMW" is something that has been attempted a lot of times so far, but your attempt might be one of the most promising yet, since it's not just redrawing individual tiles, but also editing levels themselves.

I will admit that I'm not fully sold on mixing Yoshi's Island backgrounds with Super Mario World yet. I think it's quite a strong contrast between the highly detailed YI BGs and the rather simplistic SMW graphics. However, if there's one thing I really like about this hack so far, it's the palettes. They just pop. I like how you were able to add so much depth just by adding a few details and shading here and there. Generally speaking, even though I think the BGs are clashing a little bit, I think the FGs look absolutely gorgeous! I think if the entire hack was more in the style of Yoshi's House (as seen on the screenshot here), I'd be 100% in love with it.

Now that c3 is almost over, time to bring this back to life with some small updates!

After spending like 30 minutes just to figure out how to use custom palettes on him, i finally completed his reshades! I plan to edit his platform as well, wich will be a lot easier now.

Beta Ducking Frame



That's right! I plan to add much more beta content back to the game, and this is part of it. Along with this, i fixed several frames that lost some pixels when i ported mario's gfx to the 32x32 player patch.

I also plan to remove the Yoshi's island placeholder bgs as soon as possible, also thanks for the feedback everyone! I really take it into account #smrpg{:3}
