Hey there! A few weeks ago, I quietly released a short demo for my current project:
The Path from Prisminia.

This will be a somewhat story-focused game, though not nearly as much as my previous project,
JTTMK 3. While there
is a decent amount of exposition in the beginning, as seen in the demo, this will not be the case for the rest of the game, aside from a few key progression moments.

There's a few things I want to mention here. I do want to once again thank the extremely lovely Eevee, who made protagonist Moonlight's updated sprites! They actually drew her new sprites a while ago, which I was originally using in the cancelled
JTTMK 4, but now they have a new home in this game! Heck, if I put the old and new sprites side by side you can really see the difference -
In this game, or just TPFP, I have some neat ideas for its future and my ultimate goal is to make an interconnected world where you explore at your own leisure to find coins and hidden rooms, without worrying about time limits or game overs. The titular starting world, the country Prisminia, is a demonstration of the collectible nature of the stages. (And as the story goes on, you will get to explore all 4 corners of the region...)
Each region will have a relatively small amount of stages, but don't let that fool you. As you progress, these few stages will get larger, and you'll need to go through every nook and cranny to find those coins if you want to be able to progress! Some are more vertical and open, while others are fairly straight-forward, but still with plenty of coins to find. The amount of hidden usable pipes and secret rooms will become more abundant over time as well!
The story is also somewhat of a loose adaptation of one of my favorite pieces of literature. Who can guess what it is...? (I'll say I am not very subtle about this in-game!)
I do have different goals in mind for this project, considering I want it to be much more original in terms of being an SMW hack. There is not a single direct mention of Mario, Bowser, Peach, etc. Although most of the enemies are Goombas and Koopas and whatnot, they are not actually those creatures in-universe. Same for the Toads - in general, they are all original species in my head, buuut due to my complete lack of art skills they'll have to stay as they are for now. This might change, or it might not.
In conclusion, I wanted to make this project's existence known. I am taking my time with it, and will not hold myself to any specific timeframe for release. It'll be done when it'll be done, essentially, and that's the best way for me to eventually finish it!
I hope you find the demo an interesting look into what might be in store - let me know what you think so far! After all this time, I'm extremely happy to finally give Moonlight the new, solo adventure that she deserves!
Have a great C3, everyone!
