🐧🐧🐧demo! heres demo!! demo here!!!!🐧🐧🐧

so, right now, this is the only level that actually looks good- so it's the only level that's playable in this demo, and the only level i recorded clips of.
there's def a lot more that i would put in if i had the time, but c3 snuck right up on me while i was immobilized in bed. it was terrifying!

in case you don't remember what it used to look like:

Omg, I remember seeing this from last year! It's really cool to know enough progress was made for a playable demo, even if it's only just one level. I didn't get a chance to say it during C3 then, but this game is just brimming with creativity and fun! The mechanics, physics, music, art, and level design all come together to bring a funny little penguin's acrobatic world to life. Speaking of, I love the concept of a penguin using a pressurized soda bottle to propel about, it's quite charming.

I'm certainly gonna give the demo a try sometime soon, good luck with the rest of development!

Cannot believe C3 had the sheer audacity to do such a devious thing #wario{:'(}
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
oh fuck yes now this is what i am talking about
Finally...................................penguimb
Check out my WIP romhack!
This is the best game I've played in 2022. Just moving and controlling the character is fun, you can even squat down so he chonks up, that's really cute
This looks really cute and the graphics are lovely

LAYOUT FOOTER:
In the best way possible, this gives me Celeste vibes with its visuals and how buttery smooth the gameplay looks. Such a pleasant atmosphere here as well - definitely looking forward to playing this later tonight!! #smrpg{<3}
I finished a bit of the demo and I loved it. I wasn't able to collect everything, but the movement of your penguin friend is top-notch. It takes a good time to understand, but once I got the flow, it was so much satisfying to see my friend flying all over the place at high speed. It has that kinda of Celeste and Sonic feeling, mixed together. I love our new penguin friend and his soda bottle. I hope you succeed in finishing this project. This game was very delightful and refreshing to play. #smrpg{<3}

That penguin sure looks like its having a... fun time.

Have you considered changing the colour of the penguin, to red? Blue is an eyesore, and reminds me of someone else here who disgusts me.
Like Sonic and Celeste had a baby.
Goodness! This game looks absolutely lovely! It plays pretty well too, it reminds me of the indie game Super Meat Boy!

Excuse me, but this is just ridiculous. Who's ever heard of a red penguin? -_- Go take your rudeness elsewhere.
I remember when this was shown last C3 as well as on Twitter from where I first actually saw it.

I quite enjoyed the concept as well as how fun the physics look with the way the penguin gets around the level via sliding.
I'll give the demo a try soon and hopefully get some feedback to you about my experience and if there's anything I can suggest.

Only thing I'd ask is that you finish this 100% as it looks so slick.

Nice Work! #smrpg{:3}

I had fun with this demo! The movement feels great and for a single level, there's already some inventive level design. I'm really interested to see how the gimmicks shown in the final room will get used in the full game (even if I can't launch of ice in the right direction for the life of me).

^ (plus the 3 bottle caps from the final room) ^

My guy, I think you created a new 2D genre
-"SMW CENTRAL needs more collaboration group projects, and more donors."
This is very nice. The movement is just so fluid and fun that I am excited to see what obstacles you come up with. The Celeste influence is also palpable.
thanks for the kind words!! nearing the two year anniversary of starting development now, so it's definitely relieving to see that the hard work is paying off.

i'm glad it gave you good and refreshing platformer vibes! as a lifelong platformer fan, there's a lot of ideas here that i've thought a lot about exploring.

thanks for playing!!!!! i'm sure i'll be able to put the mechanics present in the hub to good use #smrpg{:P}
btw i playtested with a friend right around the time of posting the thread, and i found out that flinging off of the ice has issues with an analog stick with snapback; releasing the stick would sometimes make an input in the opposite direction prior to the release, and this opposite direction input would override the fling direction. that's been fixed now, but not as a part of the c3 build since flinging wasn't used as a central mechanic in the level.
