Tip: If you give a Muncher tile custom graphics, it will still act like a coin when a silver P-switch is active, whether it looks like a coin or not. ExAnimation solves this problem.
Obsoleted by MarioFanGamer's version, which is a more accurate rip.
Particularly, the upper bricks are colored blue which is unfaithful to the original game, whereas they have the proper dark red tone in MFG's version.
This is the background you see when you fight Rapheal. Enjoy!

Particularly, Marioman's version is loosely accurate, sacrifying some quality in favor of space usage. The palette is heavily inaccurate too (notably, the background color and the gradient), and there's technical issues with the ripping process (apparently used a wrong resolution base pic/savestate when ripping which leads to a lot of wrong tiles unused in the final background).
Good for generic snowy areas, especially night levels.
Credit is not necessary. Thanks for downloading.

Obsoleted by Anorakun's version, which is a more optimized version overall, especially on palette management.
Hadron's version is missing stars purely due to bad palette management, having 6 duplicate colors in a single row (which may be either a fatal unnotice mistake when ripping or just unconcern). It also uses 3 palette rows, and while minimal, it also uses a few more map16 tiles.

Merio's version overwrites core objects on FG2, such as doors, nets, 3up moon and star block, when it's completely avoidable.
This contains the castle bricks from SMB3. You can use or not use the lava-effect depending on which sample level you use.
This background uses two palettes and 15 ExAnimation entries (Up to 0E) when using the lava-effect.

The fatal point of Buu's version is that it uses single exanimation slots for each animated color, which beyond of being very wasteful in general, it also causes notable desynchronization between the frames.
"A BG found in Yoshi Island, on level 6-3. No credit's needed. If you want though, you can."
Changes: Palette file doesn't overwrite some unneeded colors anymore. Bin file converted to Map16 file. Example level edited. The background uses BG1 + BG3 instead of BG1 + FG2.

Obsoleted by Natsuz2's version, which is a better rip in all terms.
It's worth of mention that SafeDesire's version doesn't include the clouds, colors are heavily downgraded (which results on lost details, like shading) and the rip was made using an incorrect resolution so it ended up using more tiles that needed.

Obsoleted by Ampersam's version which includes slopes, a lot more of variety in terms of tiles. This also lacks a sample level and a palmask. A lot of recolored repeated tiles too.
The fiery background of the first stage, from Super Valis IV. Althought people will say the PC-Engine version is better, I love a lot of this game, aside from the stage 6 and 7, it's a very hard and short game that I have a lot of fun replaying. It can fit maybe some ruined city? This rip was part of my C3 Graphic Ripping Showcase.
Uses palette 3. Two background slots (BG2 and BG3).
Credit would be great, but is optional.

cheat-master's version has a terrible cutoff which in result, end in the background not having a proper loop. Due to using incorrect resolution, the graphics take 3 slots instead of one. Map 16 is messy too.
The beautiful background of stage 4, Valhalla. In the original game, it uses parallax in the grass fields. Like it shows in the image, it's a nice fit for some grassland or field levels. This rip was part of my C3 Graphic Ripping Showcase.
Uses palette 3 and 4. Three background slots (BG1, BG2 and a small chunk of BG3).
The background seem in the stage 3 of Super Valis IV, Babylon. In the original game, it uses parallax between the ruin part and the mountains. It can fit mountain or ruin levels. This rip was part of my C3 Graphic Ripping Showcase.
Uses palette 3 and half of palette 4. Two background slots (BG2 and BG3).
Credit would be great, but is optional.

This rip was pretty hard because of the buildings not copying with all the details they had from the original game. This was ripped by hand, thus worth credit, but it isn't mandatory. Just don't claim these as your own, though, as this was a pretty hard rip (again).

Obsoleted by Natsuz2's version, which is much accurate. Aside from having a better map 16 and no color loss, it even includes ExAnimation. The old version is badly ripped and has a notable color loss around the pillars and wrong pixels all scattered around.
