Tip: By pressing Shift while placing event tiles, they will be made "silent" and will not appear until a map transition happens. Always use silent event tiles to draw paths in other maps (i.e. a Vanilla Dome event while the player is on the main map), or glitchy tiles may appear.

The 11th Annual Vanilla Level Design Contest: Collaboration Hack
3 Years after VLDC11, and over 1 year after this project started, it's finally here!
This is the compilation of SMWCentral's 11th Vanilla Level Design Contest. Featuring 111 entries + one unranked level, and 4 switch palaces, totaling in at 116 exits.
Huge thanks goes to AnEvilGhost, who originally started the project and inserted all the levels, and to everyone else who helped with the compilation.
Outside of the levels, here are some things that were made and used for this hack:
- A big new overworld, including submaps, created by yours truly.
- New overworld expansion patch, overworld indicators, and the best world coded by MarioFanGamer.
- Best world level graphics drawn by Ruberjig.
- Overworld warp asm by Kevin, similar to the warp pipe in VLDC9.
- Custom overworld sprites by carol, updated by Ice Man to work with Asar and SA-1.
- SMB3 boat by Tsutarja.
- VLDC9 overworld sprites by Lui.
- Extended Overworld Level Names by Alcaro and Smallhacker.
- Autosave by Alcaro, Erik, and westslasher2
Found a bug in Mountan Castle. In the level's fourth section, these saws go through the wall, which makes this setup at least way harder than it's supposed to be, if not impossible.
Great job getting this done! I'm ooking forward to playing it when I can find the time. I think the hard work of everyone involved has certainly paid off.

Keep in mind that it is unsupported. Basically, I won't anwser your questions per PM (in contrast to my other resources) and probably won't develop it any further (hence the Dropbox link and why didn't submit it to the UberASM section), though you are free to use the forum to ask for questions and include it for your own hack or experiment with it.

Bug has been fixed, but I will wait a bit longer before I submit an update, in case people find more bugs.
Had some people accidentally triggering the side exit during the second half of Green Switch Palace due to it being added in post (side exits remove all checkpoints). Could it possibly be removed? You can start-select out of any level, so I don't see a real reason to have it present. If it has to be there (for consistency reasons I guess?) I'd add walls to all the other rooms.
I wasn't notified about this change, and I know the original didn't have side exits enabled for that reason.

I may be nitpicky, but I dislike the secret code. It makes the level beat indicators not serve their role. I'm now paranoid about entering it (accidentally or from loss of self-control). What even is the point of it when there is no world X? You don't have to beat everything, the only use of it I imagine is showing off that you completed every level, but that would be a lie then. Like I want to come back to it a few years from now and be sure that the checkmarks actually mean the thing.
congratulations on the release! this is an insanely clean and beautiful collab and i'm proud to be part of it. i've been playing through it a bit in my free time; have seen many of the levels already but its refreshing to see them all together.
Now this feels nostalgic! VLDC 11 was a great time, i'll always have a special place in my heart for this contest and all the experiences i had with it as my very introduction to the SMWC community!
It was a lot of fun back then, and it's just as fun to come back to all these entries once again, even if i've already played through them all before.
Amazing job with this, Stivi and everyone involved. This overworld is one of the most beautiful i've ever seen, and i love how alive it feels with all the little details sprinkled here and there. It really shows a lot of effort was put into it when almost every level has some unique scenery to it that represents something from within the level. The helicopter is really cool, and the best world design is sure impressive!
It's great to see everyone's efforts from 3 years ago have ultimately paid off with the entries being included in a collab. (I'm also really proud to see my entry be a part of it!)
