Tip: When you're about to release your hack, make a patch first, patch it to a clean ROM, and then test that. This way, you are testing both the hack AND the patch.
Ahhh, springtime! The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, and pollen is in the air! But what's this, is that a patch of snow still clinging to the grass? Eww, yucky! No, wait! It's the results to the 2nd Winter Level Design Contest!
Before we get to the final three, I want to take a moment to again congratulate
Daizo Dee Von and Valentine
for making it to the top five! Please see below for information on prizes.
In third place, scoring 90.33%, you'll only find this at the bottom of icebergs. It’s
Glacier Poop by Squirrelyman157!
In snowst second place, scoring 90.67%, it's
Snowst House by E-man38!
In first place, scoring 94.55%, but hasn't anyone told them about snow plow services? It’s
Aggressive Shovelers by Sixcorby!
The full list of scores can be found here. As always, there's the usual handful of scoring penalties (mostly for missing life farms or anonymity) and disqualifications (broken patch, Kaizo, and getting site banned). The individual judge comments can be viewed below:
Unfortunately, idol was unable to finish her judging due to unexpected IRL events. I appreciate the time she took for this contest and I look forward to whenever she next wants to judge again.
As always, thank you everyone for participating, and especially thanks to the judges who played and reviewed all the entries! Below are the trophies you all will be receiving:
As for our top 5 winners, let me reiterate the prizes on offer:
Prizes will be selected by the winners on a "first-come, first-serve" basis; first place winner can choose any one of the five prizes, or pass it down to the second place winner, and so on. Physical prizes will require the winner to send me their name and address; this information will be handled securely and only for the purposes of shipping the prize. (I will cover any shipping fees.) Because of this, you must be 18 years or older to receive a physical prize.
Due to the coordination required, I will be reaching out to the winners individually about which prize they want and which are available. Hopefully we can get everything shipped out by the end of the week if not tomorrow.
And that about takes care of everything! I'll be seeing you over at the VLDC judging table!
Congrats to all the winners! Sixcorby's level in particular was so good that I think we all could tell it was gonna win as soon as we played it
Overall, the quality of this contest's levels was quite high, and I had a great time judging. Thanks to Deppy for allowing me to judge!
BTW I don't think I've ever mentioned it here, but I streamed the entries during judging: https://www.twitch.tv/frozenquills/videos
Apologies if you were one of the first ones I did because the audio balancing was terrible during the first stream lol
By the way, I got placed in the middle of each entry which means I'm on the median (technically below since 57 divided by 2 is actually 28.5). Conversely, the average score of all entries is 68 which incidentally lands on top of Disk Poppy's entry (technically, Poppy's below average but only very slightly).
Not too bad with the placement, by the way, considering I didn't put too much effort into my level and joined it out of lulz.
Fourth place, oh geez. I guess that means I made it to the top 5!
Very fun contest, definitely love cldc and cldc-likes so I'm glad I can straight up create an entire ost with new mechanics for mine.

As JupiHornet said in MagMML2 for the very worst level of the design contest Snow Man, this is why global warming exists. I haven't played any of the levels but I finally going to play it blind on my channel now the results are here. 3 DQ's? Wow, what caused it? I start playing the DQ's first then upward to the top.

By the way, congratulations!
55th place for me!
You can see the reasons for DQs/score penalties by hovering your mouse over the Average column (the black triangles signify that there are additional notes)
2nd place?? Certainly a surprise to me, but I'll take it! Definitely gonna keep the comments at heart, 1-up checkpoints and the reserve box will now always be on my mind.
This was a fun contest, especially while watching the judges (and others) play the entries live on Twitch. As usual, congrats to the other winners and participants, as well as the judges for reviewing all the cool levels! And a big thank you to Deppy for hosting too! The physical prizes offered for this WLDC were neat to look at photos of.
I'm very proud of my 70 points. Congratulations to everyone else as well and for the creators who reached top 10, as well. It was a fun contest to watch and fun levels to play.
Wow... I can't believe I made it all the way to 7th place I'm just speechless. I hope you guys enjoyed my level it was a blast participating in this contest.
