Hello, was so happy with the xbox series controller dpad that i downloaded 100+ smwhacks and wore out a pad of the metal dome . replace it with a xbox old metal dome and its not the same, a shame since there are not series metal domes for 1 dollar .

End of sad story,
What is your controller of choice to play 2d platformers ?
Had a logi 310 before but its in another league. Tried playing with the analog, and i can do it but lost 60% accuracy (i counted) and i doubt i will ever fell as good playing smw as i did with that nice dpad.
there are good 3d platformers but its not the same, its not the same .

A keyboard breaking is much rarer than a controller breaking, so I've happily trained my long fingers to do the hard platforming work rather than my thumbs.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
I've been so used to a keyboard that I don't wanna switch to an actual controller anytime soon.

My "secondary" controller is a SNES we have here from my childhood, but ultimately I prefer a keyboard to that.

Keyboard, though I do have issues with L/R not registering (bad keymaping I guess (L/R levels will be sometimes impossible #tb{:(})).

Also I wish pressing left/right imputs the newest one of the two instead of always left (SNES9X).
My 1st romhack in progress (testing avaiable)...

I use the Nintendo Switch SNES Controller in combination with an 8BitDo adapter. Hands down the best way to play SNES games!

For all other games, I use the Switch Pro Controller. The D-Pad is a tad too sensitive, which can make it a bit impractical for 2D games, but I find it's the most comfortable controller currently around.
Feel free to visit my website/blog - it's updated rarely, but it looks pretty cool!
I use keyboard and sometimes I use telepathy too.
I'm with the keyboard gang. As someone who used to play a lot of SMBX (and still does), it only felt natural to use my keyboard with a SMW on emulation as well. A controller just doesn't feel right unless I'm playing on my actual SNES.

Greetings. My name is Blake Izayoi. I love Sakuya very much.
I enjoy Super Mario World, Touhou, and Vocaloid.
Have a good day.
Once I've gone controller, I never went back to keyboard. I used to play with an Xbox One controller, but then I got an adapter for my SNES controller and that seems to work great, even better since I'm basically playing SNES games.
How do keyboard people live??
do you really play smw sitting on a chair over a keyboard and not laying in bed with the legs over some chair like the developers intended?

Don't blame me! Blame SMBX! It's what got me so used to Mario on keyboard.

... also because I can't afford a good controller nor do I have a USB slot to spare.

i use a usb snes controller for snes games, i use an nes controller to usb adapter for nes games, and for any 3d games or any somewhat modern game i use an xbox 360 usb controller (idk where it is, i wish i did #ab{;_;})
it's hard to explain though because it's a bit of an intuitive thing for me

Used keyboard all my life. Might try the Xbone controller soon, but running and jumping already feels awkward.
i just lurk sometimes

Right there with you in terms of the transition from keyboard to Xbox controller, though it's an old 360 controller I use. Really should check my local source for a USB adaptable SNES controller set-up, because my D-pad is finally wearing out

I have an original model PlayStation controller that is celebrating 25 years of service, attached via USB adapter. I like having the extra shoulder buttons for emulation speed control.

Chapter Two: Land of No Shame
I finally got one of them fancy Android TVs and not only is SNES9 Ex+ compatible but I can Bluetooth an Xbox One controller to it. It's great to play my hack on a big TV screen without an input delay from a screen cast.

As for testing I HAD a wired official Xbox 360 controller that Windows XP would immediately recognize. But I lost it in the move across states, so it's keyboard for me

Ever since I started playing Flash games featuring Mario platformers, I've become very accustomed to using the keyboard. Naturally, that was brought over to my ROM hacking experience, so I've never played any hacks with a handheld controller before.

Curiousity over it has been gradually increasing for me though, so maybe one day I'll give any kind of controller a try? The SNES one could be fun to use again.
What is a Lunar Magic, and can I eat it?
I use an iNNEXT usb SNES controller to play rom hacks.
Way back in the olden days of 2011 and 2012 when I first started playing them and didn't own a controller I played og Kaizo on a keyboard. Good times.
