best to worst, didn't super get into this set but I can't say I disliked it either tbh
Mid-Air Thief - 쇠사슬 (Ahhhh, These Chains!)
mewithoutYou - Blue Hen
it's C3 so I'm copying everyone else's homework
gotta hand it to my man grigolo over here tho, he about to pop a forehead vein or two on that one sheeeesh
mewithoutYou - Blue Hen
Mid-Air Thief - 쇠사슬 (Ahhhh, These Chains!)
First two tracks start the set off the great then the rest turned out to be very mid. (although godspeed to whoever nominated opera)
Mid-Air Thief - 쇠사슬 (Ahhhh, These Chains!): Very mellow and comfortable to listen to, I love this. Holy shit mewithoutYou - Blue Hen: In absolute love with this one. I should search up their stuff, feel like I'd enjoy them
My Morning Jacket - Remnants: Heck yeah!!! A close (ish?) third. I wish this didn't end up in a set with such 2 obvious picks, I really dig this too. Vittorio Grigolo - E Lucevan Le Stelle: 🤌 Man he really goes hard I'm shivering bill wurtz - fly around: This has a really nice beat to it, but - I've talked about this a handful of times before - bill wurtz just does not do it for me. I love his videos because they're funny but I don't like him as a singer, his spice of randomness and breaks of rhythm in his lyrics make even his most legit songs awkward for me to listen to. This is definitely one of the less bad ones and I'm placing this relatively high even, just writing a lot about him cause I know him and I happen to have a lot to say Yugo Kanno - Il Vento D'oro: Quite danceable, gets old quickly. All in all this is a pretty rockin' theme, I bet JoJo fans go insane with it. Hironobu Kageyama - HEATS 2021: Just okay. Not my kinda thing for sure KIVΛ & Nikki Simmons - Perspectives: Sorta generic for the genre, builds up way harder than it drops. Think it could use 2 good drops rather than 5 mediocre ones. I'm not a huge fan of the singing either
Great: bill wurtz - fly around
Mid-Air Thief - 쇠사슬 (Ahhhh, These Chains!)
Hironobu Kageyama - HEATS 2021
Good:
mewithoutYou - Blue Hen
Yugo Kanno - Il Vento D'oro
My Morning Jacket - Remnants
KIVΛ & Nikki Simmons - Perspectives
Okay:
Vittorio Grigolo - E Lucevan Le Stelle
got some similar themes this time around
VOTE #1: Hironobu Kageyama - Heats 2021 - I LOVE HIRONOBU KAGEYAMA. His singing is so energetic and carries such a youthful fire even at his current age. Even when he was the lead singer in LAZY which was pretty bogstandard american glamrock but in japanese he managed to bring a unique flair to it. Combined with the 1995 synths + modern arrangements of an upbeat, "you-can-do-anything" song; this always get me pumped.
VOTE #2: Mid-Air Thief - 쇠사슬 (Ahhhh, These Chains!) - Complete opposite of HEATS really. I expected my second vote to go towards mewithoutYou but this song really caught me offguard. It's mellow and has really calming vibes but it also feels just very slightly "weird" yet not enough to really make that the whole vibe of the song. Like it's still overall a good vibe, just a little more complex than what I expected going into it. Really good soundscape with lots of interesting layers.
* * *
-mewithoutYou - Blue Hen | almost my second vote!
-My Morning Jacket - Remnants | it's pretty good. not much else to say.
-Yugo Kanno - Il Vento D'oro | it's got tons of good parts but I always felt as a whole song it kind of didn't work as well as its parts.
-KIVΛ & Nikki Simmons - Perspectives | i was feeling it at first but then the drop was really generic and underwhelming and it never got out of that rut the whole song.
-Vittorio Grigolo - E Lucevan Le Stelle | i use this browser it's pretty good.
MY TWO CHOICES:
PERFECT!! 1. KIVΛ & Nikki Simmons - Perspectives: It gives me some FIFA vibes. 2. My Morning Jacket - Remnants
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
GREAT!
3. bill wurtz - fly around
4. Hironobu Kageyama - HEATS 2021
5. Vittorio Grigolo - E Lucevan Le Stelle
AND THE OTHER SONGS:
GooD
6. mewithoutYou - Blue Hen
7. Yugo Kanno - Il Vento D'oro
8. Mid-Air Thief - 쇠사슬 (Ahhhh, These Chains!)
This set was really good but there wasn't a tough battle between my votes.
Yugo Kanno - Il Vento D'oro
Vittorio Grigolo - E Lucevan Le Stelle
I had to add a space to the name of "Songs:Ohia" because otherwise SMWC's emotes made it look like this:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Songshia
EDIT: Shoutout to Hobz for teaching me how to get around this EDIT 2: I looked the name up and apparently it's supposed to have the space anyway. Man wtfCheck out my WIP romhack!
I vote for Trololo
