switch blocks help

Is there a tutorial out there that teaches you how to draw and animate switch blocks?

What I mean is these guys basically


I'm just at a complete loss as to how you make them go from outline to block when you hit a switch. Also do I need to draw something in blockcreator or is there something like this in the blocks section?
