Mario feels burnt out from his usual line of adventures and moves to far away lands, only to find himself interested on a new adventure of his own to learn about what the shine at the top of a far mountain really is.
(Yes, I'm serious.)

My attempt with this hack is to provide a pleasant experience using custom resources towards a traditional hack. While the level design isn't necessarily gimmick, I still tried to pull off something nice to play, and hopefully great visuals using icegoom's SMW Redrawn as the graphics base. If this attempt was successful, only you can tell... maybe by watching the trailer below, or playing it!

(Thanks a bunch to Akutarex for making this trailer for me!)

With that said, thanks for passing by. And happy C3!
Your hack has managed to extract a charm that I would never have thought possible using a graphic style once considered a sin. I played the demo and liked what I saw, I hope one day you will be able to release the full version. Cheers!
Check my purple website!
This was such a pleasant demo. It's definitely a mark of a good designer to be able to pull off good easy levels (I absolutely can't). I can already see the difficulty picking up slowly though, and I'm very excited to see the next worlds of this hack!

I can tell you put an immense amount of polish in every aspect of this project. There's a lot of heart and love in this for sure.

Keep it up! #smrpg{<3}
The demo was so spectacular!!

The art style looks extremely slick, And the levels look interesting and memorable.
Can't even imagine what the final project would be like...And not mention how cool that trailer was.
i will change this eventually
It's a good fun time game hack experience

I like that part in the trailer when he gets mad and starts banging on the table. hahahahahahaa
Looking forward to play it soon. Fantastic job with the aesthetics and overall level design. I'm a bit busy lately, but this hack is on my list of "Must Play".

Ringo your new hack is very awesome hope we know what happens with Mario
What do I even need to say about this? Simply phenomenal! The way you mix the Redrawn graphics with other ones (such as the Yoshi's Island backgrounds) is stunning, a great music selection. I'm honestly fine with the level design not being gimmicky, you made some fairly creative stuff with the custom sprites!
oh and I also really like the overworld, dunno what I was expecting from someone who got 2nd place on an OWDC

And with that said:

Kirbo was here
I don't often comments on hacks (since I rarely play any nowadays) but this looks super cool, the graphics you chose for the levels fit nicely with each other, the palettes are pretty and the levels look fun
This hack is amazing and the best, I wish there was another demo or the full version

Glad to see Redrawn being used stylishly but also spouting actually good traditional standard level design that keeps the player engaged with its focused gimmicks.
Modern Redrawn Mario Bros. 1.5 (last update - February 14, 2023, some new bonus frames, tons of minor touchups to various poses)

On Pixel Art Requests: Depends on what it is and if I have the time for it. If its complex and I don't have the time, don't expect me to accept it.

Looks really cool and beatiful #w{<3}
I just started playing this, and I love both the visuals and the reasonable challenge. You have indeed managed to make the Redrawn style look really good. In my opinion though, that style isn't the worst aesthetic sin a hack can commit. I'd rather see them than, say, a vanilla foreground against a background ripped from one of the Donkey Kong Country games.
Quintesson Judge: Silence, or you will be held in contempt of this court!
Hot Rod: I have nothing but contempt for this court!

well , i play this demo for every stages (only 8 levels) , holy fucking !! every stage was pretty good!! can't wait for next demo for next showcase!!! i love this damn hack!
Those screenshots are absolute eye candy, whoa. You have a really good grasp of how to use and mix the Redrawn style, which is a bit of a challenge considering it sits in a weird spot of detailed but with hints of simplicity -- a trait not many other graphical assets share. You made an interesting choice in tweaking or picking tweaked Redrawn designs, as some of the original icegoom sprites are just simply a bit too gritty to fit much else, especially under more saturated and contrasting palettes (which are really good here, by the way!!!).

The overworld looks promising too from the lone screenshot. I'm pretty sure the whole of it will turn out great considering what I've seen of your OW Contest entries!

That trailer is also amazing, lol.

I'll most definitely try this out!
Thank you all for your comments! It makes me very happy that the passion I put into this demo release was noticed especially by those that played it. #smrpg{<3}

I'm also glad that people might be having a better impression of the Redrawn style.
Alright, I have just finished playing this demo. It's very fun and carefully put together! Every level has its clear own identity and selection of obstacles, which were used in clever and exciting setups. I also really liked the small details, such as allowing Mario to shoot his fireballs in a upward arch.
And dat Chavo del Ocho reference.

If anything, I'd just consider adding multiple checkpoints to longer and challenging levels like the fort, if only to mitigate how much the player has to replay in the event they make silly mistakes and die, haha...
M-most certainly not me! <_< >_>

My first impressions about the visuals were right though, this is a really pretty hack so far! I also really enjoyed the music selection, very refreshing and telling of what kind of atmosphere the hack is going for.

Great job!

Arrived for C3 just for this! I just finished playing the demo, and it is super good! Very simple and fresh-looking, the levels are all varied with regards to the enemies and gimmicks encountered, which I think is a nice approach (and probably something I could from too lol).

I'm also surprised by the certain features this hack has, such as not being able to shoot fireballs while doing a spin jump or carrying an object, and I've always used the later.
(Keep in mind that the last hack I've ever played was VLDC9, so I'm not very much updated with the current standards and customization nowadays.)

My only feedback for now is that, when I missed the Yoshi Coin in one of the levels, I wondered if there should be a Yoshi Coin indicator as well, although it might not go along with the minimalistic approach of the HUD. Feel free to disregard!

I'm definitely looking forward for more! Great job on all the levels you've finished; they were really amazing!
Definitely one of the most fun hacks I've ever played. The aesthetics are gorgeous, and the level design is lots of fun. Great job, Ringo! I'm definitely excited to see what else you have in store with this hack.
