Last-minute thread incoming! Anyways, I wanted to release some 2bpp M0 graphics I made 3 years back for my hack and refined recently for the public.


SMW Ghost Ship




If you saw the following video, you would know that this was originally made for my current hack. I'm not sure if I'll personally use it though.




There are two palettes included: the one in the GIF and the one in the video.

You might recognize this one from my M0 tutorial. It's been refined, just like the ghost ship tileset. I know it's not the best, but y'know, Mode 0 limitations.

Okay, this is the third 2bpp tileset I made for my hack. Not sure if I'll ever use it though:

I decided to refine it for public use now! This one uses only 3 2bpp palettes, whereas originally, one more palette was used for only two tiles, which was wasteful. Also, one miscolored tile was fixed. The conversion is nearly perfect!

Okay those clouds are secretly really awesome. How you were able to do the slopes so accurately to the graphics. Well done! I'll probably use these for my hack!

Well, luckily, in terms of colors, the original YI cloud tileset was pretty simple, so it was quite easy. Were it more detailed, I wouldn't have been able to economically convert it.

It's quite cool to see how good some of the tilesets look like despite being 2bpp. Particularly the layer 3 clouds but the sunken ship tileset also doesn't look too bad..
These are very cool, at a quick glance it isn't easy to notice the color/detail loss in some of the graphics (especially in the wood planks/logs, the cave fg and cement blocks). Awesome job!

Yup, but take a closer look and you can actually notice the quality loss. In fact, the bones might give it away! But it's the best I could do. Thanks!

Thank you and I agree. I was very lucky with the two tilesets as color-wise they weren't that detailed. Were it not that way, it would not have been possible to economically convert the graphics.
